BOFFO Building Fashion in New York by Gage/Clemenceau Architects

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

Article source: Gage/Clemenceau Architects

Gage / Clemenceau Architects is collaborating on the design and production of a temporary installation with Nicola Formichetti, Fashion Director for Lady Gaga, Creative Director for Mugler as well as fashion stylist to Uniqlo, MAC and V Magazine. This collaboration is intended to produce an installation that experimentally fuses ideas from both fashion and architecture into a new type of physical environment, accessible to the general public, for a two week period coinciding with Fashion Week in New York City, in September 2011.    The stakes for this particular installation are high– as it will be housing not only the latest in Formichetti’s work, but will also include several original ensambles he has designed for Lady Gaga who has worn them in her performances and various red-carpet events.

The Patient Gardener in Politecnico di Milano, Italy by Visiondivision

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

Article source: Visiondivision

Visiondivision was invited as guest professors by Politecnico di Milano for their week-long workshop MIAW2. The workshop, playing with the metaphor of forests, aimed to generate new visions to explain the contemporary and immediate future ways of being in the spirit of green design, resilience, recycling, and ethical consciousness. Our intention with our project was to construct a study retreat at the campus with patience as the main key for the design. If we can be patient with the building time we can reduce the need for transportation, waste of material and different manufacturing processes, simply by helping nature grow in a more architectonic and useful way. The final result can be enjoyed at Politecnico di Milano in about 60 years from now.

Garden Room in Glass by Architekturstudio BULANT & WAILZER Designed using AutoCAD and Rendered using Maya and Rhino

Conversion and Extension of Sailer House, Salzburg

The owners of a Salzburg villa, wanted to add a weather-protected space that could be used all year round and would connect the house with the garden. Our main interest concerned the opening of the house to the south-sided garden. We created a large terrace reaching to the border of the property, on which we placed the garden room of glass and a pergola with tension ropes to provide shadow through plants or textiles. The arrangement of living room (music room), glass house, pergola, terrace, and a garden wall at the side-axis of the building create a chain of interwoven spaces, each closed and protected to a different degree.

Serlachius Museum Gösta Competition Entry in Mänttä, Finland by Eero Lunden Studio (Helsinki, Finland) + Eric Tan of PinkCloud.DK

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

Article source: Eero Lunden Studio (Helsinki, Finland)  + Eric Tan of PinkCloud.DK

Can the experience of art be enhanced through architecture?

White walls + Isolated Rooms = Good museum? Our design of the Serlauchius Museum extension seeks to deviate from that mantra by developing an architecture that directly facilitates human interaction with art. It is our firm belief that the experience of art can be enhanced through innovative architecture and new spatial experiences. The design of the Maison Promino seeks to achieve two main goals: to create an inspiring piece of architecture that will enhance the image of Serlachius Art Musuem globally and to provide a truly unique museum experience by connecting visitors with the art like never before.

SuperStadium in Harbin, China by Alan S Lu

Friday, August 5th, 2011

Article source: Alan S Lu

SuperStadium is a proposal for an Olympic complex for Harbin’s bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics that seeks to integrate the multitude of Olympic arenas and villages into one continuous entity, allowing for a seamless transition between programs and events. With the economic burdens of hosting the Olympic games a key issue in the local and global economy, the proposal attempts to inject the current model of sporting arenas with a social and cultural initiative. Thus, the building itself becomes a series of typological layers, with the ground floor programmed as a cultural landscape with libraries, museums, convention halls, and screening rooms.
