Centrexpo Drummondville in Canada by CCM2 architectes + Bilodeau Baril architectes

Wednesday, July 15th, 2015

Article source: CCM2 architectes + Bilodeau Baril architectes

The Centrexpo Drummondville is the most up-to-date exhibition center in the province of Quebec. The building shows the avant gardist side of Drummondville by showing an actual and contemporary image. The designers intend to show a progressive architecture according to the time of the day, a fully glazed building which reveals the activities and dynamism of the location. Different opacity in the fenestration allows to filter natural light at daytime and makes it look like a glowing lantern at night.

Dear Ginza bldg in Tokyo, Japan by amano design office

Wednesday, September 25th, 2013

Article source: amano design office

The client is a developer company. It purchased a long-sought after lot in Ginza, and planned to build a commercial  office building.

The building site is on the Ginza 1-chome Gaslight Street, which is one street behind the Ginza Central Street.

It is on the back side of the Mizuho Bank and Pola Ginza buildings on the Central Street. The atmosphere is quite different from the gorgeous Central Street, and the site is on an empty street which is often seen behind the street with large-sized buildings.
Attracting as many people as possible into such a street is our task. The client desired the building to be a gorgeous existence.

CASA PETRINI VILLANI IN Polignano a Mare, Bari, Italy BY arch. Antonella MARI

Thursday, September 5th, 2013

Article source: arch. Antonella MARI

The house for a psychologist, a nurse and their young daughter is designed as the extension of an existing one-floor building in the historic center of Polignano a Mare, in southern Italy. While the old tufo facade remains almost unmodified, the new volume above is clearly defined through the use of lighter materials: a double skin system – made of  glass/aluminum large windows screened by steel and wood retractable panels – allows natural light in, while preventing heating.

Farmers Fishers Bakers in Washington, DC by GrizForm Design Architects

Saturday, July 27th, 2013

Article source: GrizForm Design Architects

Farmers Fishers Bakers, a 9,700 square-foot restaurant in Washington, DC, is an original and creative restaurant venue that seamlessly combines form, function, and creativity. The space formerly housed Farmers & Fishers, a restaurant ruined after the Potomac River in Washington, DC flooded the space. The owners called on a local DCbased architecture and interior design firm to re-imagine the restaurant as one with a farm theme full of folklike touches and unusual materials with an emphasis on custom design.

Periscope House in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan by Kuno + Aida

Friday, August 10th, 2012

Article source: Kuno + Aida

A single-family residence located in a typical residential area, where two-story wooden houses are densely built. In order to obtain fine living environment while giving a minimum impact on the surroundings, we proposed a plan in which three volumes of the bedroom with the opening turned for the south are pulling out from the roof level as if they were a set of periscopes.
