Spaces Hennessy Road in Hong Kong by D&P Architecture

Sunday, September 1st, 2019

Article source: D&P Architecture

Spaces Hennessy stands proud in the middle of the buzzing Wai Chai area. A long with its great accessibility, Spaces Hennessy provides matching conveniences and co-working experience from within. As interior designers for the place, D&P Associates is glad to see the place working well and trusted by local freelancers and startups.

One thing we’d have to admit, Spaces Hennessy was not exactly a joy to work on. The assigned building lies in a crowded part of the city with perhaps too many neighboring areas and uneven buildings. This leads to two daunting challenges: How do we make the place stand out in such a bustling area? And how do we get enough natural light if we are being surrounded from all directions?

Albia is a twenty-floor office building located on a property between Antonio L. Rodriguez and Blvd. Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, two high-velocity avenues in the west of Monterrey. Its structure is composed of visible concrete frames that are expressed on the facade as vertical mullions. The offices are located in a reflective glass volume, with a north-south orientation, on a quadruple height base.

The lower part of the building is divided into three glass volumes separated by large voids. The access passes through the voids to the lobby in the central volume. The other two volumes, also connected by bridges on the third level, house shops on the ground floor and two levels of offices.

Orange lemon House in Quito, Ecuador by Daniel Moreno Flores

Monday, August 26th, 2019

Article source: Daniel Moreno Flores

A home destined to become quickly a definitive home because the owners were looking for a house that would allow them to leave the rental department soon and thus stop paying endless fees. The challenge was to design the project in a month and to build the house of 65m2 in two months. A house which had to be an affordable one, for this purpose blunt design strategies were defined: to create a structural constructive system that requires little time of execution and covers a large area. Initially the owners looked for a house of containers, nevertheless they required of ample spaces, also had to cover them and modify them reason why the sense of its reuse was lost. For that reason, a system of corrugated rod trusses that allows to contain spaces, was defined concretely and virtually, besides the importance of structuring with our own measures for different uses. The foundation was built quickly with the leftovers from the rods and they were made as piles. The modulation of the house is a function of the material (the trusses are 7.2 meters long), so it is distributed every 1.20 m x 2.40 m in height to receive industrial plates and reduce execution costs. However, in such a fast process we leave space for the spontaneous and the definition in the work in progress.

OT House in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Speziale Linares Arquitectos

Wednesday, August 21st, 2019

Article source: Speziale Linares Arquitectos

The house is located in the northern area of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in a private suburban neighborhood. The lot has a strong natural component, because of the geography of the place but specially, because it borders a navigable river that communicates with the Delta del Río de la Plata. In this way, we seek to colonize this landscape as an architectural object that not only captures it but also proposes different ways of relating to it (through patios, water mirrors, lucarnas, running windows or punctual windows).

A House in the Countryside in Romania by Ene+Ene Arhitectura

Monday, August 12th, 2019

Article source: Ene+Ene Arhitectura

Situated 40 km North of Bucharest, in a peaceful rural setting, the house serves as a week-end and vacation retreat for a family living and working in the capital. It tries to make the most of its privileged location – a mildly sloping site at the very edge of Poienarii Rali village, with a beautiful view towards Ialomita river and a forest – by means of a sensitive placement and orientation.

One of the most difficult objectives that we had to address was creating an architectural object that did not disturb the visual calmness of its context. This influenced our decisions regarding typology, volume, scale, materials and technology.
