Friday, January 17th, 2020

Article source: BLIPSZ S.R.L

The lavish property lays in a Transylvanian mountain village among households spread along valley roads and up on mild hills. The main built volume, a horizontally spread topography feature partially masked by a sloping green roof and a mineral gabion wall cladding. Two traditional barn-like outgrowths articulate the construction. The required interior area is quite impressive, especially compared to the modest, traditional local households nearby. Shapes and materials were chosen to blend the expansive building in the special scenery. The solar layout, building energetics concepts has been subordinated to the panorama, opening towards North.

Article source: HON GAI ARCHITECTURE CO.,LTD

Stepping Green House is the idea of a home with a living space arranged with gardens, creating an urban living space close to nature. This is the second house we have done in Ninh Binh, also on the same street compared to the first house. We continue to seek creative ideas about spaces that are close to nature, pursuing the true meaning of living space and architectural form, instead of making French castle architecture that people here are favored.

Stazione FAL Matera Centrale in Italy by Stefano Boeri Architetti

Monday, December 23rd, 2019

Article source: Stefano Boeri Architetti

Located in Piazza della Visitazione, the new Matera Centrale train station represents an important link between the city’s old town, post-war and modern districts and a key point of access to the city of Matera in the year that it’s set to become the European Capital of Culture.

“Designing a new railway station has allowed us to anticipate the characteristics of the city which this new station will provide access to, both in terms of location and architecture,” comments the architect Stefano Boeri. “We’ve created a structure that we hope will become a sort of junction, as well as a place to take a break or interact with others. The new public space consists of two empty areas: one that runs alongside the railway tracks (six metres below ground), and a piazza (at ground level), which is sheltered and demarcated by a large roof.”

The Check Point Building for the Faculty of Computer Sciences in Tel Aviv Yafo, Israel by Kimmel Eshkolot Architects

Sunday, December 22nd, 2019

Article source: Kimmel Eshkolot Architect

Located in the center of the Tel Aviv University campus, The Check Point Building by Kimmel Eshkolot just open to the public this month. As a seemingly floating volume in the campus, it contrasts the adjacent Mario Botta’s iconic Cymbalista Synagogue and the the 1960s Faculty of Exact Sciences.

The Check Point Building is a new type of technology integrated building with a unique envelope made of pixels of glass that were designed using parametric modeling. This shell was developed specifically for the project, and it is an innovative system matching the values that the building represents. Its positioning frames an area to the west of the building which supports its conversion from a parking lot to a central square in the campus.

Thursday, December 12th, 2019

Article source: DOMINA | RAMOS Arquitectura

The store is located in an important commercial area of Buenos Aires, in front of one of the busiest bike-paths in the city.

The project arises from the need to duplicate the sq ft of the existing store, due to the exponential growth of the company. Nowadays, the 4000 sq ft are distributed in three floors: 1st is the main shop, workshop and patio; 2nd is the warehouse and product development area; 3rd is for main offices, meeting room, dining room and terrace.

The Kimball Residence in Raleigh, North Carolina by in situ studio

Monday, December 9th, 2019

Article source: in situ studio

The Kimball Residence is located on one of the smallest buildable lots in downtown Raleigh. The form of the house perfectly mimes the maximum building envelope allowed by local building code. The house program is tightly packed, and openings are carefully located and oriented to edit the tight surrounding context. Elevated exterior spaces are carved from the volume of the house, and a rear courtyard provides a garden refuge in the city. A steel and oak stair, visible from the street, ascends through a program that is “upside down” – the main living spaces are on the top floor.

Tudor House Liquor Store in Esquimalt, Canada by GBL Architects

Friday, December 6th, 2019

Article source: GBL Architects

Liquor stores are ubiquitous in their urban presence, often muted in their expression, and relentlessly generic in their architectural design. Function dictates form, resulting in characterless boxes that contribute little to the eclectic vitality of high street commercial frontages. Our client encouraged us to challenge the pre-conceived ideas of this retail design typology, to develop a unique building form that would function independently as a successful retail space in a neighbourhood that has been devoid of significant commercial growth in recent years.
