NB1 – Residential Tower Nordbahnhof in Austria by AllesWirdGut

Wednesday, September 26th, 2018

Article source: AllesWirdGut

High shalt thou live!

The residential high-rise building in the most central Viennese urban development area at Nordbahnhof is already the second building block that AllesWirdGut is setting in this district. With clever arrangement and shaping, the building with around 340 residential units is larger than it looks. The result is a varied, slim form, which creates space and connects the high-rise with the city and the adjacent park.

Max Mara Flagship Boutique Aoyama in Tokyo, Japan by Duccio Grassi Architects

Monday, September 10th, 2018

Article source: Duccio Grassi Architects

DUCCIO GRASSI ARCHITECTS had renewed and transformed the spaces of the MAX MARA flagship store of Tokyo, in the exclusive area of Aoyama.

In a corner position between Aoyama-Dori and Kotto-Dori, this space of over 400 square meters has one impressive facade and great visibility.

The exterior of the building, covered in pink granite and characterized by two large columns has been completely redesigned and made more current and consistent with the values of the brand. The design of this exterior has taken up the challenge of maintaining a unitary aspect without entering in conflict with the upper part of the building in which it is inserted in. The windows have been eliminated, the lower windows modified or closed, the columns incorporated in the new colored glass greige coating.

Pier House in Maryland by KUBE Architecture PC

Monday, August 6th, 2018

Article source: KUBE Architecture PC

The Pier House is perched on a hillside overlooking the Potomac River in southern Maryland. The 130 foot long house is conceived as a pier with seamless transitions between interior and exterior living areas. Elongated decks and walkways offer a variety of panoramic and framed views of the water and landscape beyond. From the street side the house presents itself as a solid volume in contrast to the transparent double height living space facing the river. The recessed lower level and the exposed steel frames over the deck, allow the house to appear to float over the landscape.

The flat is located in a tenement house from 1929, designed by Roman Feliński, on Filtrowa Street in the Stara Ochota neighborhood. The project included revitalization and partial reconstruction of all rooms. One of the main goals of the project was to make a reference to the historical character of the apartment. The walls are covered with a traditional plaster while decorative finishes were painted by hand. Wooden joinery and parquet floors have undergone a renovation, which was performed by craftsmen specializing in restoration of monuments. The flat was equipped with furniture designed and made by Loft Kolasiński: table, bed, mirrors, kitchen and bathroom furniture. Designed and made for the project was also a steel wardrobe development and steel ventilation grilles and curtain rods. In addition, in the project, there were used unique furniture, lighting and carpets by designers such as Maria Chomentowska, Antonin Kybal, Eero Saarinen, Kai Kristiansen, Franz Hohn, Władysław Wołkowski, Nelson Bench and Roger Lecal. A unique detail of the apartment’s furnishings are armchairs from the factory in Zadziel the 1950s, which have undergone specialized refurbishment. The photographs of Maria Svarbovej were used to decorate the walls. The Warsaw Filtry project inaugurates the launch of the Warsaw branch of the Loft Kolasiński interior design studio.
