SeDu House in Puerto Varas, Chile by Pe+Br+Re arquitectos

Thursday, May 17th, 2018

Article source: Pe+Br+Re arquitectos

This house is located in Puerto Varas, on a plot that used to be an agricultural field. This places the house around a large native and non-native trees and an old countryside roads. This view coincides with the solar orientation towards the north.

Formally speaking, the house is designed from a large main volume with two main facades, the south and the north, facades that according to its character determines its expression in terms of composition, light and materiality. To the south a more private facade is defined towards the parking area with a clear window access. This controls the loss of privacy and temperature of the facade exposed to the street, the cold face of the house.

Gateway – Deloitte HQ in Brussels, Belgium by JASPERS-EYERS ARCHITECTS

Tuesday, April 24th, 2018

Article source: JASPERS-EYERS ARCHITECTS

As one of the world leaders in financial and business services, Deloitte is also a trailblazer when it comes to innovative, contemporary working culture. It’s no wonder, then, that their new building at the Brussels Airport site in Zaventem would become a reflection of what the company stands for.  It’s an international melting pot, where work and leisure go hand in hand and where flexibility, communication and versatility are key words.

Jaspers-Eyers Architects, which has extensive experience in designing contemporary work environments, took up the challenge for developers Codic and Immobel. The challenge was to transform abstract concepts into tangible architecture that is firmly grounded in the present and future. Architecture with respect for the existing complex, which is partially renovated. The result is both sober and imposing, a modern giant with one eye on the landing strip and the other on Zaventem.

House with 11 views in Almere, The Netherlands by Marc Koehler Architects

Wednesday, April 4th, 2018

Article source: Marc Koehler Architects

Five small artificial islands mark the border between the suburban expansion of Almere Stad -the new neighborhood ‘Noorderplassen West’- and the nature area ‘Noorderplassen’. House with 11 views is located on one of these islands. Although the distinction between culture and nature is palpable, both are part of the same polder landscape. A landscape that had its origin on the design table and was created out of nothing.
