The project is situated in a former rural town that grew over the last decades into a medium-sized regional city. As a result of this process large parts of the city are transforming gradually towards a more urban character. The client is an innovative project developer, keen to play an active role in this process. Recently they acquired a piece of land close to the city centre for future redevelopment.
This project is a modern, urban two-unit townhouse. Construction is a 3-story wood frame structure over a concrete basement/garage. The site is a typical San Francisco lot, 26′ x 115′, with a moderate to steep upslope. The project was undertaken as a Design/Build project with the Architect also being the owner and the general contractor. The North unit is the owner/architect’s home, and the South unit was sold.
This renovation of an existing space to an art gallery was primarily concerned with highlighting historic elements while providing a clean, crisp surface for installations and shows.
The main gallery features floating perimeter display walls: Existing masonry is exposed along the top, bottom and sides, adding perceived spatial depth and the impression that the gallery itself is an installation. Heavy timber columns–once an elevator shaft–are a focal point at the entry; a stretched Dacron sail between the columns is backlit for dramatic effect from the street.
This was a project for a New Villa developed on the northwest of Italy, Monferrato Coutryside Area, Piedmont, that follow principle of bioarchitecture.
The development of the new private residence , is based on the juxtaposition of two main bodies , the master house and an annex of service, united by a single large roof , oriented and designed to maximize solar gain during the winter and to protect and reduce the penetration of the same during the summer. A third building , detached from its predecessors is thegarage.
The resident did not rely on energy in South Kyushuof high temperature and humidity, and hoped for ecology life with the environment.
The wind of land is felt, rain water is saved, and it enjoys gardening. It is native life. The site is a residential quarter that extends on a Shirasu plateau near from the Kagoshima City downtown. I then thought native house (eco-house) with the soil (Shirasu) as the material that formed this plateau native by the made Shirasu block.

Art Port is a free standing pavilion created for an art dealer as an addition to an existing house. It creates an arrival sequence for the homeowners and their guests. Formed from a single flat roof that rests on two solid volumes, it is separated from the main residence by a bamboo garden.
The Curl Curl House was an exercise in material, time, and cost efficiency. A specific project brief included two bedrooms with built-in robes, bathroom/laundry, an open plan dining, kitchen, living space, and a deck. The Client also required that the home was to be at one level extending from the carport and main entrance.

Hewitt Studios recently won an invited competition to redesign the Freshford Village Memorial Hall, near Bath. Their vision was to provide a welcoming and attractive multipurpose focus for local community activity, complementing its outstanding rural setting.
