Glass Bridge as Haizuka Earthworks Projects, 1997~2007
This project is located at Haizuka dam construction area and as one of Haizuka Earthworks Projects*. We are commissioned from Mirasaka town, Hiroshima prefecture, Japan to design guardrail and pavement for the newly large bridge over the dam lake in collaboration with local people. As a result, we put over 190 sheets of glass panel(300×1800mm) to the outside of guardrail. Furthermore, collaborating with Japanese artist, Hiroshi Fuji, we design the glass panel as an Encyclopedia of living things in haizuka dam area. Therefore, “Glass bridge” is a project as landscape design, as a small museum, as a communication art, and as an architecture.

Concept of the work:
A beach house, facing the sea, planned for a family of four, where the architectural features were organized to be tied to a modulated structure of reinforced concrete. The order of the vacant and full spaces inside this structure is what provides volume to the project.
This house was planned in the deepest part of a site divided into three. Because it was expected that next buildings approach in the east and west, I aimed at the house which wind and looking could pass in the north and south direction. Residents are husband and wife, two little girls, two dogs, three cats. They had many personal things, but when I saw the overflow condition of their things,I thought It is good exactly for them just like “they are not worry, even if they do not tidy up” rather than they keep a thing in storage exactly.
On San Francisco Bay, on the eastern side of Tiburon peninsula, at the end of a short road running steeply downhill amidst the vegetation, a narrow triangular valley slopes gently down to a little beach.
The house is located in the center of this valley and opens directly onto the beach, which in the course of the day widens and contracts with the rising and falling of the tide.

The bar “Vanilli“, on the ground floor of a house situated in the old town, has been the most popular venue of Linz’s trendy nightlife for more than two decades. The new owners brought with them the desire for a complete redecoration, aiming to retain the glamorous reputation whilst also maintaining the fundamental building structures of the listed building to meeting planning requirements.
