Valley House 2 in Nova Lima, Brazil by David Guerra Arquitetura e Interiores

Friday, November 2nd, 2018

Article source: David Guerra Arquitetura e Interiores

A couple with two grown up sons approached us having a generous site with an almost 360° view and the idea of building a modern and cozy house. The house needed to be a good place to entertain guests and friends and at the same time maintain the panorama created by the garden. Thus, the house was built with fluid spaces, with generous lighting and crossed ventilation, that could be easily integrated or isolated to be used together or independently changing integration and privacy as needed.

AK House in Timișoara, Romania by Parasite Studio

Friday, November 2nd, 2018

Article source: Parasite Studio

The project acts as an intervention on a pre-existing structure in order to provide arenas for various activities – subject to change in time – but also to open up the interior, connecting it with the green in the patio.

The open ground floor brings together the daily activities of the entire family. The vast space, almost free of any compartments or delimitations, offers protection from the street while linking the garden and the pool terrace with the green area in the south-east. The upper floor incorporates individual private areas, which make use of various discreetly placed elements to filter the visual communication with the outside. The last floor embodies the penthouse, which accommodates an area designed for personal body care and other sporting activities, connected to a suspended garden spanned across almost the entire terrace. In addition to restoring while reaching the green space of the patio, the terrace opens up to the wide view of the surroundings.

Wednesday, October 31st, 2018

Article source: BLUEROOM

BLUEROOM proudly presents the sketch design for an Off-Grid Villa in the south of France.

The team researched the design potential for building a patio villa on a 1.000 m2 site, in a region in the south east of France. The Client requested a striking, contemporary design that blends into its natural context. A residence that can absorb changing needs in the future, such as extra children, in-living parents or in-living nurse. BLUEROOM welcomed this task as a balancing act between expressive and subtle design, to create a compact patio villa that facilitates both the interaction between its users, as well as the comfort of privacy when so desired.

Article source: McLeod Bovell Modern Houses

The Container House is a commission for a couple with three grown children who requested a compact and simplified living arrangement with an eye to retirement. They sought spaces that offered the ease of an apartment with the addition of inviting and sizeable covered outdoor areas. Moving from a family house that was situated on a flat, heavily treed lot to a steeply sloping mountain-side property created the opportunity for a bright and open house, perched high above the ground.

Therme Meran in Italy by Matteo Thun & Partners

Sunday, October 21st, 2018

Article source: Matteo Thun & Partners

A visual and physical continuum between indoors and outdoors, generating a perception that compounds an already complete wellness experience achieved by harnessing the spirit of place. (25 different pools in Italy’s largest public spa).

According to archaeological records, the springs in Meran have been in use for some 5.000 years. If those records are true, then the antecedents in the modern baths in this historical little town on the southern side of the Alps (which enjoys 300 days of sunshine every year) were already attracting users 1.000 years before the ancient Egyptians discovered the use of therapeutic baths were a staggering 3.000 years old when the Romans built their famous installation in Bath, in England. When the ancients took the plunge in the Meran springs, the view they could enjoy of the town’s magnificent location, set like the jewel in a crown of mountains, was unfettered by any surrounding manmade structure. And when today’s visitors to the town’s new state-of-the-art thermal baths take their plunge, Matteo Thun’s transparent design establishes a continuum between indoors and out, affording them a similar experience: the ultimate in the fitness is visual as well as physical.

The Infinity House in Khandala, India by GA design

Tuesday, October 16th, 2018

Article source: GA design

Planned with a brief of maximizing views of the valley and enabling a nexus with the environment, the villa for a family of four has been conceived on a plot of land that is deeply contoured with a steep slope towards the valley. With stupendous views, where earth, water and the environment amalgamate to demonstrate nature’s phenomenon, the villa has been planned with most of the rooms optimizing the views.  The natural site contours have been used effectively while exploiting the views of the mountains to create an infinity swimming pool that manifests itself as the core of the villa. The area under the pool serves as a leisure zone of the house, the more semi-public zone where games and an entertainment area are functionally located, while opening out into a lush green garden.
