Article source: Elips Tasarım Architecture

Nevzat Demir Facility of Besiktas Sports Club (Turkey’s one of the biggest sports clubs) is located in Çekmeköy, Istanbul. The three-storey main building was not used efficiently before the renovation. There was also a need for an indoor pool and a spa area for the football players. Design process was started in order to transform this area according to these basic needs.

A pool section that contains indoor pool, jacuzzi, swimming pool, in water running, shock pool was planned for the players to use in training and treatment purposes. The spa section was designed with steam room, sauna, hot stone beds, relaxation room and showers. There are also two massage rooms with a private jacuzzi and shower as well as a foot and hair care department for professional use of football players. All these functions were placed in a 570 sqm area with a well-resolved circulation and operation.

The rebirth of the Prague’s riverfront in Prague, Czech Republic by petrjanda/brainwork

Wednesday, July 31st, 2019

Article source: petrjanda/brainwork

The first part of the long-awaited revitalization of the Prague riverfront area called Náplavka is coming to completion, making it one of the most attractive public embankments in Europe.

In autumn 2019, nineteen vaults on the Rašín and Hořejší Embankments will be put into use. Six will feature the biggest elliptical pivoting windows in the world, connecting the inner spaces with the riverfront area in a unique way, through the diagonal rotation of the five-meter wide glazed “lenses”. The other spaces will have distinct steel sculptural entrances.

A river cruiser designed for the Far East by Salt & Water

Wednesday, July 31st, 2019

Article source: Salt & Water

This new cruiser for European tourists is designed to show the beauty of the Mekong River and the country through which it flows. For this reason, we designed the interior of this 56m long and four-deck ship in a modern style, based on the heritage of the Far East architecture.

The selected textures, materials and geometry are characteristic for this area. The entire interior is designed as a frame for nature through which it is cruising – to complement it, instead of drawing attention from the natural beauty of the landscape.

Article source: Olson Kundig

Inspired by classical monuments such as the Lincoln Memorial at the nearby capital, and the client’s longing for a vaulted roof form, Capital House is at once monumental and cozy, regal and understated. The contemporary lines of this modern residence are balanced by neutral tones and natural materials, including stone, concrete and bronze.

The Parque Residences in Selangor, Malaysia by ONG&ONG

Friday, June 14th, 2019

Article source: ONG&ONG

The Parque Residences, within the distinctive township of Eco Sanctuary, highlights the balance between modern resort living and the natural environment. This low-density 27-acre enclave features three striking residential towers with almost half of its acreage set aside as park land.

The design brief encompassed the client’s vision to create an enclave of facilities that reflects resort-style living in a green urban environment. Crafted for professionals and young families, the one-, two- and three-bedroom units are configured in an 11ft grid line module, stacking neatly on top of one another. The arrangement of the modules across the floors allows for spacious double volume spaces in the three-bedroom units. In addition to its architectural articulation, the strong box facade highlighting the double volume living spaces are designed in a staggered rhythm with timber composite panels wrapping around the generous 8ft deep private balcony.

Kloof 145 in Cape Town, South Africa by SAOTA

Monday, June 10th, 2019

Article source: SAOTA

Accessed from Kloof Road, which winds along the western slopes of Lion’s Head, this site is positioned in the wind-protected suburb of Clifton. Years before any development was introduced, this slope was conceivably covered by indigenous forest and fynbos. Today, however, the area is developed and enjoys spectacular views over the sandy beaches, boulder outcrops, and Twelve Apostles mountains towards the south and sunset views over the Atlantic Ocean.

The first aspect of the project that required addressing was the steep slope that would have to be excavated to accommodate the structure. The home was conceived as an arrangement of staggered blocks that rise along the side of the mountain, with the upper, private levels becoming appropriately shielded from both visibility and street-level noise.

M50 Art Hotel in Chengdu, China by MUDA-Architects

Sunday, June 9th, 2019

Article source: MUDA-Architects

M50 Art Hotel Project is located in Pingle, Sichuan. Pingle Ancient Town is planned to be a music theme town. Therefore, the starting point of this project is around “Music”. In this project, MUDA- Architects strives to explore and activate local culture genes, and to create a landmark building that can inherit the historical context and also is forward-looking. It is an architecture which is able to talk to the future.

MUDA-Architects hopes to further explore the relationship between architecture and music in the design: tapping into the local history and culture, we learnt that the love story between Zhuo Wenjun and Sima Xiangru happened in Qionglai. Taking the song “Feng Qiu Huang” as the starting point, guqin was found, and the strings was extracted. The project abstracts the action of “touching the strings” into architectural form. When the strings solidify at the climax, the final form of the building is obtained, which also responds to the theme “Architecture is frozen music”.
