104 Social Housing and Home Ownership in Ivry-sur-Seine, France by aEa, agence Engasser+associés

Sunday, April 1st, 2018

Article source: v2com

Located on a plot of land in Ivry-sur-Seine and close to the river, this 104-unit project had to adapt to the physical constraints of its environment while enhancing the brief with added value. Composed of three apartment buildings, two of which are for private ownership and the third for social housing, the buildings stand in a verdant environment with a landscaped inner garden, visual openings onto the Seine and roof terraces enhanced by flower- and kitchen-gardens open to everyone.

Arranged in a staggered design, the three buildings are broken down into varying volumes, materials and tones so as to create variations of scale and embellish them with slimmer lines.

A dense, urban project that the agency has transformed with panache into a habitat favourable to encounters and conviviality in a bucolic setting.

Article source: AGENCE BERNARD BÜHLER

The Residence Irene Popard, to Clermont-Ferrand (France), counts 89 units including 29 in social accession and 60 social rental housings. The green corridor is the spine of the project which take its source between the buildings of the neighboring plot. The idea is that the various buildings meander, sneaks in a duality between distance and rapprochement with other buildings facing each other. Hence this zigzag movement.

Vol Walker Hall & the Steven L. Anderson Design Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas by MARLON BLACKWELL ARCHITECTS

Monday, March 12th, 2018

Article source: MARLON BLACKWELL ARCHITECTS

The Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design at the University of Arkansas is a striking hybrid of a beautifully restored and renovated historical building, Vol Walker Hall (65,000 SF), and a contemporary insertion and addition, the Steven L. Anderson Design Center (37,000 SF). The coupling of old and new invigorates the historical center of the campus and revitalizes the educational environment of Vol Walker Hall, the campus’s original library and home to the School of Architecture since 1968. The expanded facility unites all three departments – architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design – under one roof for the first time, reinforcing the School’s identity and creating a cross-disciplinary, collaborative learning environment.

KARESANSUI in Shangri-La City, China by Yiduan Shanghai Interior Design

Sunday, January 14th, 2018

Article source: Yiduan Shanghai Interior Design

By chance the client found Mr. Xu Xujun two years ago. After a few hours’ communication at the first meeting, the client requested that Mr. Xu provide a brief proposal first. At that night, Mr. Xu drew a rough draft by hand: elements of Oriental Zen were added to the overlapping connected buildings , and Tibetan style of ancient city Shangri-La was taken as a smooth transition, thus a simple hostel which presents the beauty of nature was gradually shown. The client thought highly of the draft, thus a story about the original design of KARESANSUI was unfolded.
