Three courtyard buildings on a 13-acre site near Kamuli town in Eastern Uganda provide accommodation, teaching and working space for agricultural students from Iowa State University and Makerere University.
The architecture contrasts a heavily textured clay brick envelop with light-weight timber-glass and coloured render facades facing the courtyards. An undulating roofscape organically embeds the buildings into the surrounding, and the folded metal gutters not only make an architectural statement of the rainwater harvesting that supply the majority of the Centre’s water needs, but also act as light reflectors illuminating the underside of the walkway roofs.
A faith-based, non-profit organization required a new space for recruitment, training, and supporting teachers through an urban teacher residency graduate program. Their new space is positioned between a public, large central atrium and more intimate atrium of a multi-million square foot vertical village (previously a large distribution warehouse.) Their new home is made up of three functions: staff offices, flexible training rooms, and community areas for breaks and collaboration. The space is also open to a large private terrace with outdoor seating for small meetings or to recharge throughout the day.

The new handball arena is situated on a freeway intersection in the south-west of Aix-en- Provence. The façade is made up of metallic ellipses stacked like layered contours. At first sight, the arena has no front or back- since every side of the façade is treated equally. Only the differently arranged ellipses indicate the front of the arena. The large form embraces an events hall for 6 000 to 8 500 spectators plus a smaller training hall. The arena reacts to the site through geometrical modifications: the ellipses, hovering above another, arranged with a much stronger shift towards the forecourt than to the other sides, thus forming a large canopy to welcome the visitors of the arena. The undersides of the protruding ellipses are illuminated to manifest the building as a whole. In the evening the lights on the undersides additionally help to move the focus of the arena towards the forecourt.
This is a project to reinvigorate the space of an old hospital and assist the vulnerable teenagers to regrow.
This old hospital with 70 years of history is now the important rejuvenating base for the old residents in Sanxia and it will become the life skills training venue for local vulnerable and highly attention-required students in the future. Meanwhile, it will also be a place for factory tours and as the internship store. The strategy for its space development is based on how to connect the future applications and the framework of the building. We tried to show our respect to the old but reborn space to make it with new leaves on an old tree so the features of the original ward rooms are kept and maximized.
The project consisted in the renovation of old military headquarters built in the middle of the 20th century in Turo de Gardeny in Lleida, the area to be worked on consisted in three floors with some 600 m² floor, with a clear rationalistic disposition of pillars and structure related to the military period. The project consisted in the preparation and creation of a new corporate image, in relation to the interior space, in order to be able to provide a location for ILERNA ONLINE professional training offices.
Behind the new facade of crude steel of an old bank branch is a Club: CLUB XII, a new space that you can remember its facade to a gastronomic club, inside a social club, for its lighting to a club music, for their materials to a cultural club, or his furniture to a business club, but it is actually all that plus a personal training club.
With a 3100m2 of covered area, the Gymnastic Training Center of Guimarães is located at the East limit of the city park and was conceived for practice and training of high performance gymnastics.
ID College and ROC Leiden offer secondary vocational training and education. The new build location in the historic city centre of Leiden accommodates the vocational education for students in healthcare. The complexity and historical nature of the inner city site required a thorough analysis in order to developed a design vision which reconciled these aspects within the brief. The integrated approach in which architecture, urban planning, landscape, interior design and engineering converge results in a unique design.
The project site is situated between the existing Émile Legault School and Raymond Bourque Arena, both of which are horizontal in form and neutral in character. For this project, it thus became vital for the design of new sports complex to create a visual and physical link between the Marcel Laurin Park (to the north of the site), and the projected green band that will run along Thimens Boulevard.
