Gateway One Shekou in Shenzhen, China by SPARK

PROJECT SUMMARY

SPARK has completed the design of Gateway One a 71,600-square-metre mixed-use development and transportation hub for China Merchants. Located in Shenzhen South China the 110-metre-high, 27-storey office tower and five retail pavilions are connected by landscaped terraces that combine to create a unique naturally ventilated retail and business destination for the lively Skekou district of the city. The buildings sit over and adjacent to a new transportion hub that includes a bus terminal and the Seaworld subway station.

Izmir Transportation Hub in Turkey by Eray Carbajo

Eray Carbajo receives honorable mention in national architecture competition to design the transportation and interconnection hub of Izmir, Turkey. The avant-garde design proposal redefines the ground level and creates a new topography through its multi layered elevated parks, urban plazas and interconnecting green paths.

Context

Having to live, work and circulate in a never-ending mobility; the society revolves around the entity of mobility. Relocation of information, services, people and furniture reforms everyday life.

Sanya Integrated Commercial and Transportation Hub in China by Aedas

Located in front of the Sanya High-speed Railway Station, Sanya Integrated Commercial and Transportation Hub is a mixed-use tourist attraction and transportation hub. It will feature a retail podium, shopping streets village, a hotel, serviced apartments, a wedding event hall, a cinema, a children’s playground and a sky garden, all of which are linked to the high-speed rail and tram stations as well as the bus terminal.

World Trade Center Transportation Hub in Lower Manhattan, New York by Santiago Calatrava

In August 2003, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey selected Santiago Calatrava to design one of the most emblematic projects in Lower Manhattan’s restoration: the reconstruction of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub. Based on Daniel Libeskind’s Masterplan, the new facility was to be located immediately east of the original World Trade Center Twin Towers. In January 2004, Santiago Calatrava unveiled his design.
