EXOtique is a quick design through fabrication installation at Ball State’s College of Architecture. The Institute for Digital Fabrication invited us to lead the workshop/installation with student help, following three main constraints:
Timeline- 5 Days: One day devoted to design, one day of modeling in Rhino / Grasshopper and materials testing, and three shared days of fabrication, assembly, and installation.
Budget- $500 materials budget: white acrylic, white polystyrene, and 55 cord sockets and bulbs.
Site- Ceiling above the foyer at the west entrance of the architecture building.

New app – Trace is an evolution of design process, enabling the development of ideas, free thinking and communication amongst a global community of designers and creators.
New York,September 25, 2012– The Morpholio Project announces the launch of its second app, simply called Trace. The app explores the role of technology in the conceptual phase of the design workflow through a digital version of trace paper, and fosters communication amongst a global design culture. Trace, essential to any design or creative process, allows users to instantly draw on top of imported images or background templates, layering comments or ideas to generate immediate, intelligent sketches that are easy to circulate.

JAMESTOWN, NY – A historic retrofit project on some of the most hallowed ground in the United States, the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, was recently completed with the installation of 1,700 custom, handcrafted steel windows from Hope’s®.
The design-build project was the work of Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Hawaii to retrofit the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard/Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY/IMF) Building 155–with the mandate to maintain the structure’s historic window features.
Hope’s, widely regarded for customizing its hot-rolled steel windows to virtually any design vision, went one step further and literally created a new product line for Building 155: the Hope’s ONE55™SERIES Steel Windows.

Designing an oceanfront development in an area at high risk of flooding is a challenge that combines two different factors: resiliency against natural disasters and the impact of climate change, as well as the pleasure and enjoyment of a seaside life.

The Liard River Hot Springs project replaces the existing timber deck and change room facility that was eroding due to environmental exposure. The design addresses the needs of the rugged northern climate while creating a welcoming environment for the hot spring bathers. The project consists of new separate mens and womens changerooms, an expanded and upgraded deck, hot springs amenities and an upgraded path network.

DEVICE #9 is our idea of the simplest architectural format.
The format starts with a completely empty box. The only “rules” are to implant four GARDENs serving as devices. The only other thing we have done is to place facilities and objects indispensable for living.
To metaphorize, the empty box is a flat steel sheet, and the four GARDENs are magnets positioned below the steel sheet.

Imagine a site you might picture, when letting your mind wonder back in time: damp soil forms a soft ground, catching your footsteps, ancient, weather-beaten stairs, that have been used in earlier times as an earthen path, a lovely old retaining wall and carefully cherished plants.
