The “Centre de Services Le Bonnallie” in Orford, Canada by Anne Carrier architecture

Monday, April 2nd, 2018

Article source: v2com

This building is characterized by its interplay between opacity and transparency and between interior and exterior. It is very carefully integrated into its setting, following the site’s topography so closely that the building appears to be sculpted from the landscape itself. The mix of materials and colours gives it character, while creating clear boundaries between different spaces.

The office functions as an element that connects and structures the compound of warehouses and sheds that are property of Prinzi S.A.

The project was commissioned by a firm engaged in the import and export of products for the meat packing industry, which wanted to relocate its offices to its distribution center set in the traditional “La Comercial” neighborhood of Montevideo, Uruguay. Entre Portas in Pinhel, Portugal by depA Architects

Sunday, December 10th, 2017

Article source: depA Architects

An old house, in the heart of the city of Pinhel, holds place to a new bar/restaurant which aims to be a reference in the city’s historical center.

From the old and dark original house, the proposal kept and took advantage of the solid granite perimetral walls and the wooden roof structure that along with a selective demolition process created a new fluid and bright inside space.

From the exposed rock wall a new rocklike volume is built in concrete, organizing the space and the public/service circuits and areas.

Ostasilor 8 in Bucharest, Romania by TAG Architecture

Monday, December 4th, 2017

Article source: TAG Architecture

The building in Ostașilor 8 is located in a diffuse, traditional urban fabric of central Bucharest, in which the urban architectural, historical values and the natural environment are protected in their entirety, street texture and built environment alike.

The area has a high living standard and a scenic air and is located at the convergence of neighborhoods with diametrically opposite characters. On the one hand, the limits of the old city center and Cișmigiu Gardens (historically the oldest designed park in Bucharest) point towards a moderate, maybe nostalgic approach, on the other, the proximity of the new and controversial Uranus Boulevard, whose inception has caused a stir due to demolitions of old, derelict areas, pushes towards the exuberance inherent to any beginning.

Summer house in Veddinge Hills, Denmark by Martin Kallesø Arkitekter

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017

Article source: Martin Kallesø Arkitekter

The ground lies right beside the water in the bay of Sejerø and the project’s shape is inspired by birds that fly over the bay. The building is located on the ground’s most comfortable position with regard to sun, shelter and orientation towards the water. The four main volumes make up the body of the summer cottage. They contain the guest an- nex and sauna, living room with access to the terrace, dining zone in extension of the kitchen-dining area and the master bedroom with en suite large bathroom. A glass corridor with views of both the sea and the arrival area connects the guest annex and the main building. The summer cottage is modular with a wooden structure, at roof and black, vertically-mounted pro le cladding. The at roof is coated with a green sedum roof, so that on arrival you immediately have contact with the Sejerø Bay and the horizon beyond. The terrain declines so the four main volumes are placed on the site with a facade line and garden wall that follows the lines of the terrain, while also providing natural shelter from the wind. Interior materials comprise oak parquet, design concrete ooring and a front door in solid oak.
