Villa Scheller-Lange in Ulm, Germany by Philipp Architekten GmbH

Thursday, May 30th, 2019

Article source: Philipp Architekten GmbH

The property is ideally located in the immediate vicinity of the town center of Ulm, Germany, adjoining allotments and forest. The only reminder of the former gabled roof house is a weathercock, which now welcomes guests at the entrance of the building. The rest is stunningly new and different.

The three levels of the building are clearly divided, and assigned to each is a private outdoor area. The entrance of the house is located at street level and creates a spacious yard and entrance situation. On this level, guests and children are accommodated with a football field to run around right in front of the rooms. Inside, a remarkably beautiful solid wood staircase leads up to the next floor, which represents the living level with dining, cooking, living area. Designed as an angle, it embraces the outdoor area, featuring an inviting pool with a wooden deck and lounge area. The long bar of the pool stretches the building through the property and its frame acts like a passepartout outlining space. The pool ends with a beautiful sandstone wall which functions as a protection of privacy and comfort.

La Serena House in Córdoba, Argentina by Estudio Montevideo

Thursday, May 23rd, 2019

Article source: Estudio Montevideo

This time the challenge was to create a house, very bold clients showed up and proposed a different objective. A house to enjoy, relax and feel relaxed, “in the countryside”. The natural situation of the land and its vegetation were decisive for the geometry and the answers to the premises. Routes, sectors of visuals, noble materials, elevations, connectivity, visual continuity, the inn, the tower, relaxing situations, were several of the design searches. The architectural tour begins at the bridge to enter the work, we walk along the walkway that adapts to the situation of height of the land at its beginning to enter the house on the top floor. The “social tower” to be, cook, invite, eat, enjoy, is a pure volume of concrete, metal and wood. Horizontal and vertical connective spaces make up the circulations. It is located in the center of the field articulating the other sectors. “The posada” with its rooms, is a perfect space for rest, breaking through the trees rises from the natural soil to create a special situation of interaction between the bedrooms, its gallery and the green of the land. The pool that is in relation to these two bodies, is finally surrounded by the “bar” of the bottom that is at the same time a container of ship, forming the final milestone of the route of the house. The final composition of the volumes shows a relaxed house, decompressed between its areas but compact and dynamic in each of the sectors.

Villa Castelluccio in Italy by Andrew Trotter

Thursday, April 18th, 2019

Article source: Andrew Trotter

Villa Castelluccio uses local materials, traditional building methods and details from the local architecture, resulting in a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom house that fits perfectly within the olive trees, a real Italian vernacular. A modern edge has been given to this 1920’s countryside villa, yet keeping a rustic feel, light an airy. Bespoke kitchen tops and bathroom sinks were made from concrete, and a fireplace was added to the back room. A new outdoor kitchen and seating areas were designed to take full advantage of the great weather and rural setting, with a long wall alongside the pool, to give the feeling of an outdoor room, and offer more seclusion to the swimmer.

Stadsvilla D in Roosendaal, Netherlands by zone zuid architecten

Monday, April 15th, 2019

Article source: zone zuid architecten

In the citycenter of Roosendaal a beautiful urban villa has recently been completed which reflects in its architecture on the directly surrounding historic buildings.

It is not often possible to create a villa of this size within the historic center. The house presents itself in a clear but quirky way in wood, steel and concrete. The width of the plot in relation to the surrounding buildings gave rise to splitting the volume into two. Parking on site has become possible because the living volume has been “lifted”.
