Aequilibrium in Venice, Italy by C+S architects

Tuesday, June 21st, 2016

Article source: C+S architects

Equilibrium is a state in which opposing forces or influences are balanced. A state of physical balance; A calm state of mind; in chemistry: A state in which a process and its reverse are occurring at equal rates so that no overall change is taking place; in economics: a situation in which supply and demand are matched. Equilibrium is that of the ‘house of cards’, of the tightrope walker, of the proportion of a classical column or of a statue, of the sailing boat travelling not upwind or lee.

Wednesday, May 18th, 2016

Article source: MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects

Branksome Hall was established as an independent all girls school in the residential South Rosedale Heritage Conservation District in the urban heart of the City of Toronto, Canada — now a leading International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. The campus is set within a large 13-acre property characterized by lush, wooded ravine edges and open green spaces. The city’s extension of Mount Pleasant Road divided the campus into two sides and the students cross via a pedestrian bridge.

14 UNITS OF SOCIAL HOUSING AND MOTHER AND CHILD WELFARE CENTER (PMI)-SIEMP in Paris, France by inSpace architecture

Sunday, January 24th, 2016

Article source: inSpace architecture

The project at 73 boulevard de la Villette in the 10th arrondissement of Paris comprises 14 units of social housing for the SIEMP and a Mother and Child Welfare Center (Protection Maternelleet Infantile, or PMI) for the Department of Families and Infants (DFPE) of the city of Paris. The integration of the project into the lot demonstrates the intention to set up a building that assimilates the composition with the context, its morphologies and urban specificities, and thus designed as an element that reflects its environment. The building expresses two distinct aspects of reality: Life on the boulevard, and life in the heart of the city block. This duality is developed at various levels of the building’s conception.

The Clinic in Shanghai, China by Hcreates

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2015

Article source: Hcreates

The Clinic – by International Rehabilitation Specialists. The first of its kind in Shanghai, The Clinic, is a wellness, and rehabilitation center focusing on each person’s individual needs. The design aims to create an interior that overturns ones idea of the “sterile white walled” hospital environment. Raw materials of concrete, rustic wood, textured glass and industrial lighting have been used to create an intimate boutique style to the common spaces and treatment rooms. The minimalistic and natural finishes give suggestion to a spa interior to instill a feeling of relaxation and healing.

Everton Well-being Centre in Scarborough, England by Studio Maurice Shapero

Saturday, February 21st, 2015

Article source: Studio Maurice Shapero

The idea is to address the duality of an open community building with the introverted / confidential nature of a Doctors practice. The triangular form is open at each end, but closed along its length. Extrusions are inherently both open and closed. Each end contains public halls with out door rooms (open) and the central area the surgeries (closed). The West end is open to St Anthony’s façade with an outdoor room for waiting and contemplation.

This building is a long roof………everyone, both patients and doctors, under the same roof.

Article source: Schneider & Lengauer Architekten

Over the past years, Thomas Plöckinger-Schatzl and his team have expanded their services. Besides classical physiotherapy, they now also offer medical exercise therapy, massage, and the sale of training and therapy utensils. The integration of all these services made building a new practice essential. The space solution developed by Schneider & Lengauer integrates these requirements and therefore provides a simple, smooth and barrier-free organization of all work areas.
