Brecon Estate Winery was bestowed a Merit Design Award for Architecture at the 2016 San Francisco AIA Design Awards. The winery, remodeled by Aidlin Darling Design, is located on the “Emerald Necklace” of Paso Robles’ progressive wine growing region. The jury noted that the real strength of the project is in its simplicity and its restraint; “The crisp detailing and carefully composed materials make this just a stunning project through and through.”
The old cellar where we developed this project, funded by the European Union, belongs to a landmark building called “Casa de la Tercia”, constructed in the 7th century and located in the small town of Cehegín in Murcia´s hilly interior.
The cellar is located on the semi basement of the building.

Oak barrels of the Zymé winery’s pure organic wine ages in the karstic caverns found in an ancient sandstone quarry in San Pietro in Cariano, in the historic Valpolicella growing area. Here, living rock – geological layers marking the history of the earth’s movements – freezing water rising from an underground spring – are folded into architect Moreno Zurlo’s design. Top quality wine is produced with sustainable production methods and careful attention to detail, by a winery with a warm welcome visitors, maturing in underground areas of fragrant oakwood and Corten stell.
The Titus brothers reached out to MH Architects to explore the concept of a new winery facility located in Napa Valley in 2012. The client’s stated goal was to express the spirit of Titus Vineyards wine through the architectural components of the winery design. MH Architects responded with a series of design iterations before narrowing the focus toward a design that best matched the client’s needs. During the process, architect and client reviewed the basics of production flow, matched hospitality requirements with current trends in the wine tourism industry, and created a building aesthetic which captured brand identity. The design team worked closely to accommodate the complex layout of shiny fermentation tanks which catalyze anaerobic reactions under the same roof which hosts aesthetically-conscious guests with discerning palates.
The winery is composed into the scenic South Moravian countryside scattered with vineyards. The structural scheme is based on the width of the row of grapevines and runs through the whole house. In the representative wine tasting room, the vineyard and an archetypal arched room, referring to the wine cellars in that region, intersect orthogonally. Wine making is concentrated in two horizontal buildings, the winery thus gives the impression of being lightweight in relation to the countryside.
The Campo Viejo Winery lies on a plateau on the River Ebro valley, the Rad de Santa Cruz, which is covered by 37 hectares of undulating vineyards with marvellous views in all directions. The programme is split into two parts, which means that the visiting area is located on the vineyard, château-like, whereas the winery, which covers a surface area of 45,000 m², cannot conceivably be sited on the hill, but is built into it, like a work of land art, and is concealed from the vineyard.

Wine cellars have been transformed over the years creating a series of parallel activities to the operation of the vineyard that now mark a challenge of developing a program that allows that these two activities are carried out at the same time.
This corporate winery is located south Lake Garda, in a countryside of vineyards and olive groves.
The owner wanted to build a new wine cellar adapted to the recently expanded arable land. The cellars of the existing farmhouse were no longer adequate for modern use.
