Located at one edge of the city park of Poperinge are the youth building and meeting rooms for the various youth organisations in the city. At this former school site, the existing buildings have been renovated and a new youth centre built. Together with the newly installed playground in the adjacent Burggraaf Frimout Park, this gives rise to a total site for youth. In accordance with the philosophy of BURO II & ARCHI+I, the concept focuses primarily on the sustainable management of the space.

Youth Center in Niafourang, Senegal by Project Niafourang

Saturday, March 24th, 2012

Article source: Project Niafourang

In the fall of 2011 three architecture students from NTNU travelled to Niafourang, a small coastal village in the Casamance region of Senegal, to design and build a Youth Center. The population of Niafourang is approximately 300 inhabitants. The village is very poor and people generally live hand to mouth. Locals harvest rice from fields and fish from the river. The region is lush with vegetation due to its tropical climate. There is a high unemployment rate and many young people leave Niafourang to find work elsewhere.

Euralille Youth Centre in Lille, France by JDS Architects

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Article source: JDS Architects

Over the past twenty years Lille has become a European hub; a destination for business and congress, a great place to study and live and also a tourist destination. It is a city with a turbulent history of conquest and reconquest, a heritage as an important medieval city and later the industrial capital. It is this history, the unique and striking presence of remnants of ramparts of the citadel, which the project seeks to mention.
