Phoenix Real Estate Office in Frankfurt, Germany by Ippolito Fleitz Group GmbHThursday, September 28th, 2017Article source: Ippolito Fleitz Group GmbH SOLOWEST This ten-storey office building opened at the beginning of the 1990s as the ‘Lahmeyer-Haus’. Like many buildings from that time, the increasingly sophisticated demands of tenants and Frankfurt’s oversaturated business real estate market quickly rendered the building no longer competitive. It stood empty for many years until project developer Phoenix Real Estate recognised its attractive position in Frankfurt’s Westend and decided to completely gut and revitalise the building. Since Phoenix itself rents office space in the building for its Frankfurt branch, the brief was simple: “to build the best house in the respective market segment”. Our studio was commissioned to design the entrance lobby and the access and supply cores for all storeys, as well as interior architecture for two rented offices.  Image Courtesy © Zooey Braun
Paulaner Headquarter in Munich, Germany by Hierl ArchitektenMonday, September 25th, 2017Article source: Eva Herrmann Kommunikation Architektur The design falls back on the type of courtyard development that is both suitable for giving the Paulaner headquarters an identifiable building and also for making reference to the history of the place and thus continuing the tradition of the former Zacherl brewery. Furthermore, it enables the creation of an administration building with various usages, flexibly mixed, and with variable, largely hierarchy-free occupancy, short distances and compact dimensions. Housing at St. Sebastian Church in Münster, Germany by BOLLES+WILSONFriday, September 8th, 2017Article source: BOLLES+WILSON In 2009 BOLLES+WILSON won the 1st prize for housing and a kindergarten on the site of the 1960ies St Sebastian Church. It was expected that the emblematic oval form of the church be demolished. Instead the kindergarten colonized the nave. The reinterpretation of traditional Asian architectural elements using high-quality materials and natural colours lend a unique appeal to the 250 m2 restaurant. The large-scale industrial architecture of the area of the former incorporation “Anker Werke AG“, a company specialized in the production of sewing machines and cash registers, has been kept up, with this area having been transformed into a new urban quarter by means of some minor changes. The three existing building components of the former School for the Hearing Impaired were closed by a new building attached to the existing volume, thus forming a cuboid. It then results in a roofed patio that can be used as a meeting space, for gatherings, or events. The patio presents the lively heart of the ensemble. New C.A.R.L. auditorium at RWTH Aachen University in Germany by Schmidt Hammer Lassen ArchitectsWednesday, July 5th, 2017Article source: Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects Today, one of the largest and most modern lecture facilities in Europe is officially inaugurated on the campus of RWTH Aachen University in Germany. The new 14,000m² facility named C.A.R.L. (Central Auditorium for Research and Learning) offers space for over 4,000 students and comprises 11 lecture halls, 16 seminar rooms, break-out spaces and cafés, as well as housing the University’s physics collection, storage spaces, workspaces and a large bicycle parking basement.
