Villa Mauthe in Balingen, Germany by PHILIPPARCHITEKTEN

House M -A Study in White Amongst Books and Art.

This unique residential home was built on a very long and very narrow plot of land at the foot of the Swabian Alb, Southern Germany. The idea of the design by Anna Philipp was to sort the property’s extreme proportions by using three lines: a tree line, a water – and an art line. In turn the art line divides the building into a horizontal public space containing the areas for living, cooking and eating, and a vertical, private area with a library and office providing the family with an opportunity to retreat. The family’s great passion for art and graphic design, which is a central design theme throughout the entire house, gives it its own special expression. Thanks to the professional light planning the entire home is staged by directing both the daylight as well as the artificial light. Therefore the daughter enjoys producing her own works of art sitting at the dining table, underneath the “Zettel-lamp” designed by Ingo Maurer.

Öhringen Petting Zoo in Germany by Kresings Architektur GmbH

Train of thoughts

The ensemble’s formal shape interacts strongly with its particular use as well as with its urban context. The exposed site, which is situated in the southern portion of the “Schlossgarten” and in the immediate vicinity of the pond, allows the two volumes of the buildings in combination with the fence to be conveyed easily. Also multiple views from all directions are offered to people walking by and in especially to the little visitors to the petting zoo.

The kindergarten we would love for our kids. The new nursery has been built on the site of the existing kindergarten. For this reason, the roof area of the new single-storey building is designed as a playground. In keeping with the Montessori pedagogic method, the building is the most important toy.

Refugees welcome

Not only now the situation in the housing market is exacerbated. Even in recent years, far too few apartments have been built in the inexpensive segment. So affordable housing must be re-implemented as soon as possible.

Residence in Paderborn, Germany by Architekten Wannenmacher +Möller GmbH

Friday, September 25th, 2015

Article source: Architekten Wannenmacher +Möller GmbH

The House for a family with a child was completed in 2010 and is located on a busy street in a residential area of the Central German city of Paderborn. In accordance with the predominant development in this area (existing development of the environment), the one-and-a-half storey building has a gabled roof, thereby deliberately integrating typologically into the existing neighbourhood. The House is accessed over a gravel-covered introverted courtyard, which is closed off from the adjacent road by a concrete wall. Also the garage is accessed through the courtyard. It was designed in a way that it merges with the house and is barely noticeable.

Guesthouse Berge in Aschau im Chiemgau, Germany by Nils Holger Moormann GmbH

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2015

Article source: Nils Holger Moormann GmbH

The guesthouse berge is nestled in Aschau in Chiemgau, at the foot of the Kampenwand mountain and holds a unique charm. Those, who move into their quarters in berge, shouldn’t expect excessive luxury – but rather an inviting ambiance, natural materials, real art and a lot of attention to Detail. Almost all of the apartments are equipped with a small, but smart kitchen, which entices guests to don an apron. Because there’s no restaurant in berge.
