House P+G in Weinheim, Germany by Architekten Wannenmacher + Möller GmbH

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014

Article source: Architekten Wannenmacher + Möller GmbH

This detached house with a self-contained flat is being built on a plot of approximately 2,000 square metres in a prime residential area of Weinheim (Bergstrasse) for a family of five. The design is for a building that is split into individual volumes and that has two storeys facing Weinbergstrasse in the northeast and three storeys facing the garden in the southwest due to the extreme slope of the plot. A detached house, built in 1999, which still exists on the plot, is to be retained and included in the design.

Northern Shore Lake in Zwenkau, Germany by labor4+

Saturday, March 29th, 2014

Article source: labor4+

Intensive use and urban consolidation will be selectively concentrated and embedded as holiday villages into the successively developed countryside. This will be implemented in accordance with a continuous landscape and based on the history and structure of the surrounding area before the opencast mining. The density and size of the village structures decrease from the Western “harbour village” to the eastwardly located „hermit huts“.

Gamseia cocktailbar rethought in Munich, Germany by Buero Wagner

Saturday, February 22nd, 2014

Article source: Buero Wagner

When owner and head bartender Matthew Bax opened Gamsei 2013 in Munich’s trendy neighbourhood Glockenbach, he introduced hyper-localism to a field of practice which had till then been mainly confined to the food scene. At Gamsei, ingredients for cocktails like Lavender Drunk Bee and Frühlingserwachen, are either wildly foraged by Bax and his team or grown by local artesian farmers, thus reestablishing a connection with local products, region and culture and offering something that is unique in its kind.Bax, an Australian artist and founder of three bars, envisioned his fourth as an antidote to the globalization of cocktail bars; why drink the very same cocktail in every bar you go to in the world? Why not experience the excitement of the new when sipping a cocktail?

House in the woods near King’s Forest in Potsdam (near Berlin), Germany by claim

Friday, February 21st, 2014

Article source: claim

Small spaciousness

The house in the woods is a residence for a couple and their guests. Despite the very limited area available for construction and the users’ requirements regarding the number of beds and rooms, a residence with a perceptible spaciousness arose. Starting from the ‘bungalow’ stereotype, the design sets openness against seclusion, introduces smooth transitions in contrast to set boundaries, emphasizes the correlation of surface and volume and, in this way, overlays the familiar with the new.

visitor centre: Emscher Village in Oberhausen, Germany by OOZE architects

Wednesday, February 19th, 2014

Article source: OOZE architects

The temporary Visitors Center for EMSCHERKUNST.2013 and the Art Camp for local art associations are made from re-used oversea containers which house the different programs. By keeping the layout strictly on ground level and referring to a path through a village, not only the space inside matters, but also the various in-between spaces, sheltered by a roof or open-air.
In this way a variety of social spaces are created while keeping the site fully permeable.
