Kind of blue in Florence, Italy by eutropia architettura

Thursday, May 14th, 2020

Article source: eutropia architettura

We are on the hills of Florence, in Tuscany, Italy. As in a jazz song, this house is articulated according to a clear rule: open spaces and lots of light. But even the strictest of rules requires improvisation: therefore the blue color becomes the exception. We find it in the decomposed geometries of the ceramic coverings, or dosed in large homogeneous surfaces, the color becomes the protagonist of the space, giving freshness, dynamism, originality and cheerfulness to the home project.

A house on two floors, where all spaces, even the smallest and apparently uncomfortable ones, have been optimized and used to the best, using custom-made furnishings and ad hoc solutions to solve with creativity what only apparently seemed a limit.

Farace house in Favara, Sicily, Italy by LILLO GIGLIA ARCHITECT

Friday, May 8th, 2020

Article source: LILLO GIGLIA ARCHITECT

The Project tackles the delicate topic of integrating a contemporary artifact in the Old Town of Favara (Sicily), in a consolidated frame of row houses.

Knowing the urban tissue, the project management reveals a conscious contemporaneity, based on the building know-how and the ability to obtain high-quality housing outcomes, reflecting the evolving requirements and performances which merge into a complex dimension of the “physics of the building”. Giglia’s Project follows these parameters of attention, rationality and expressivity. The result is simply amazing: a white strong gem proudly set in the surrounding urban fabric – showing a low architectural value – linked with the city through small holes and scenic overlooks on the Old Town.

Fmts Group – Incibum in Pontecagnano Faiano, Italy by Studio Sabrina Masala

Friday, March 13th, 2020

Article source: Studio Sabrina Masala

By applying Alberti’s Renaissance maxim to an industrial building that the house is a small city and a city a large house, an attempt has been made to create a working space in which the perception is that of a strongly anthropocentric system. The FMTS Group project starts precisely on the basis of the pre-existence of a prefabricated box among the many in the industrial suburbs of Campania, originally built as an industrial factory and apparently defined and binding. In the service sector, Eisenman’s design concepts “structure, function and technique” can be compared with those of “product, process and production system” dear to the world of industry. In this project, the product, if product can be talked about, is varied between personnel trained in skills required by the market, in training packages, with a process of practical training on the one hand, in an innovative and advanced high gastronomy school and on the other corporate training with a spin-off process, management training and “production system”. The diversity and complexity of human-oriented spaces, tools and technologies must guarantee the conditions of wellbeing in which the attitudes and enthusiasm of the groups are refined.

Powerbarn in Ravenna, Italy by GIOVANNI VACCARINI ARCHITETTI

Friday, March 13th, 2020

Article source: GIOVANNI VACCARINI ARCHITETTI

Designed by giovanni vaccarini architetti, powerbarn redefines the relationship between energy production and agricultural land.

A virtuous example of coexistence between the industrial and the agricultural world, Powerbarn by Giovanni Vaccarini Architetti in Russi (Ravenna, Italy) interprets the conversion process of part of an industrial area, once property of the Eridania sugar company, into a bioenergy production plant. Surrounded by dunes and natural pathways, the new pole for the production of electricity from renewable sources is fully encircled by the territory it derives its energy resources from. The architecture of the large furnace building, which dominates the area, offers mutable and faceted displays of itself. Its imposing mass is disguised by means of a wooden skin inspired by the Razzle Dazzle mimetic strategy of military origin. A short film by The Piranesi Experience and photos by Massimo Crivellari reveal its qualities.

Südtirol Home in South Tyrol, Italy by NOA* – NETWORK OF ARCHITECTURE

Thursday, March 12th, 2020

Article source: NOA* – NETWORK OF ARCHITECTURE

Is it possible to taste, smell and feel a country? Yes, it is. With the finest nuances, noa* brings the Südtirol-Home’ guests in Antholz on an exciting olfactory and visual journey of discovery through South Tyrol.

South Tyrol – a term that describes over a thousand things, was recently translated into architectural form for the occasion of the 51st Biathlon World Cup in Antholz, where top athletes, celebrities, politicians, organizers and visitors gather. Surrounding a kind of “village square” are 10 buildings, the largest of which is the Südtirol-Home, which will be the home of guests, winners and journalists in this top-class sports event 2020, who, above all, are intended to be able to do one thing here: feel South Tyrol.

The attractive shell of Südtirol-Home, a modern interplay, where glass and wood create a game between the open and closed, was already under construction when IDM Südtirol, the innovation, development and marketing company commissioned noa* with the design of its interiors. A critical factor that had to be taken into account in the planning of the interior design, was that this temporary building should be easy to dismantle and assemble at other locations without major wear and tear. The main task for noa*, however, was to enable Südtirol-Home’ visitors to experience the location and the country in which the sporting event takes place in literally every sense.
