The \”Torre di Baratti – Bio Resort & Restaurant\” is located in the enchanting Gulf of Baratti and enjoys a panoramic position of considerable prestige, with unique views and characteristics, right in the middle between sea and hills, at the foot of the ancient Etruscan village of Populonia . The site is immersed in an extraordinary countryside, a fertile land populated by beautiful olive groves with centuries-old trees of wild beauty, stone walls \”dry\” that rise in the blue sky, delimiting the vast fields creating here and there plots variables, flanked by important remains of Etruscan civilizations, and ancient lookout towers. It is a strong landscape full of signs and meaning, the one where the village of Baratti is born, a gulf of sea of rare beauty, which has maintained that genuine taste of home, and where stands the \”Torre di Baratti – Bio Resort & Restaurant\”, immersed in the colors and smells of the countryside, whose name comes from the particular type of building, born as an outpost watchtower.
A new volume is added to the antique XVII century villa overlooking Garda lake, in the north of Italy, immediately showing two contrasting and complementary elements: the first one, a 3-floor stone house, the second, a dyed concrete canopy.
Winning competition entry for the redevelopment of an urban area, including the transformation of an existing bus depot to integrate a mixture of uses including office, retail space and residential units.
This project is part of the Municipality of Rome’s initiative to redevelop a number of transport depots within the city in conjunction with local public transport authority ATAC. It involves the regeneration of a neighborhood with a weak identity but with good growth potential due to its location at the edge of the city centre. Labics’ aim therefore was to create a new centre for the local community, but also to increase its profile as a place of transition with privileged access to the city centre.
The global housing deficit can be measured in the scale of billions. Two opposite approaches can be seen tackling this issue of such magnitude and scale: an inefficient approach and an efficient approach. An inefficient construction system is labor intensive, and this means that, from a political point of view, using as large a work force as possible will keep unemployment rates low, which is just as important as reducing the housing shortage. At the same time, there will be a need for approaches using very efficient prefabricated constructions able to respond quickly and accountably in terms of technical quality to an ever increasing housing demand.
SCL detached house in Vicenza (Italy) is the first in town designed using straw-bales as building technique.
The project reveals an idea of architecture rooted in archetypes. Two elements, a roof and a wall, define the domestic space.
Clients in the first place asked for a conventional wooden house.
Since the house is the domain of its inhabitants, we tried together to understand what their needs were and what the priorities with an holistic approach to sustainability, design process and construction.
Casa Pinto is a country house surrounded by the olive trees in Salento, the southest area of Apulia region. It was designed by Insite Architetture Studio that consists of three young professionals in architecture and engineering. The front kept the facade of the previous 50’s house, typical in this area, and the back, totally white, is characterized by basic volume shapes and windows with a beautiful view.
The building is located near Montebelluna, in the province of Treviso. The design idea results from the will to enhance the existing context, gently immerging the new house into the greenery: two thin horizontal and parallel lines define the foundation and the flat roof, protecting the ‘dwelling box’ in between. The idea of timber cladding greatly integrates the project with the surrounding environment and the use of large windows allows tangible continuity with the surrounding vast green park.
