Zaha Hadid Architects has been selected by the jury of the international design competition to build the new Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Concert Hall in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
Considered the capital of the Urals, the city of Yekaterinburg is Russia’s third largest economy. Its population has increased by over 10% in the past decade to 1.5 million and continues to grow as the primary hub and meeting point connecting east and west, Europe and Asia; attracting the many cultures, talents and industries from across Eurasia.
Yekaterinburg has built a rich musical tradition and established its reputation as a cultural and artistic centre. The city’s acclaimed Ural Philharmonic Orchestra has performed in more than 20 countries and collaborates with renowned artists worldwide. The orchestra cultivates aspiring young talent and has as its foundation a dedicated, passionate and growing society of music lovers in Yekaterinburg and around the world.
Sberbank, the largest bank in Russia and Eastern Europe, has transformed its traditional office model to an open, transparent and activity based workplace. Swiss architecture and design studio Evolution Design was responsible for the design and the development of the new workplace concept over four floors in its central Moscow headquarters.
The newly designed workspace was just announced winner of the ‘Best Agile Office’ in the Best Office Awards 2018 and also received the Grand Prix Award 2018 for the best office out of 120 projects.
The interior design of St. Petersburg-based “Gastrobar O” celebrates Scandinavian laconism and pays a tribute to the local context. The restaurant with 46 seats is located on the first floor of the former 20th century club mansion currently occupied by a creative cluster. Functionally, the architectural solution follows the historical conception of the place — a space for meeting and communication. Aesthetically, it enters into a productive dialogue with the neighboring Danish design school.
While designing the main office of Sabidom Company which specializes in construction of townhouses, the main task was to demonstrate a favorable difference between this company and the major players of the construction market. Another task was to establish a fundamentally different approach of Sabidom not only to construction process, but also to interaction with the clients. The main goal of this interaction is to turn the usually difficult and complicated task of house purchasing into a fun adventure. Therefore, for the interior design, we decided to follow the methods rather typical for offices of IT companies such as Google, Skype, Yandex. As our client said – \”It is necessary to create a positive work space for the free-thinking and creative people\”
To cover from an atmospheric condensation, to provide a shadow during the sunny summer and to give an electric light during the dark night these are the essential functions needed for a man whose intention to smoke with comfort.
Art objects from steel and ancient wooden planks, marble chips and street furniture all of that take place in Nefa Architects project of the sunshade on the roof of the office building.
Experimental living room in a country house, designed in the style we named like eco-loft was made for the TV-show about cottage building on NTV-channel Russia. Almost all the furniture in the room is made of glass, and inside glass structures we installed herbal compositions with lightboxes. On the ceiling we placed parametric composition of slats, that make ceiling look wavy and breathable.
Restaurant OTTO Pizza & Wine is located in the residential complex “Baltic Pearl” in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. It is already pleased with guests. In the interior we used most favorite materials: wood, concrete, metal structures and reinforced glass. Almost everything including furniture and fixtures is made according to our sketches.
Located on the Black Sea coast, connecting Russia with the Mediterranean, Atlantic Ocean and Suez Canal, the city of Novorossiysk is the nation’s largest shipping port and the third busiest in Europe by turnover. With direct links to Russia’s rail and highway networks, Novorossiysk has also developed into an important centre of industry.
Documented in antiquity as a port specializing in grain, Novorossiysk rich history and traditions as a centre of trade are continued in this masterplan that integrates new public spaces and amenities for the city’s residents and visitors to enjoy the seashore with facilities to host international conferences, trade fairs and business congresses, as well as professional and academic seminars.
