The project is about the interior fit-out of the new headquarters of the well-known company Viola Communications in twofour54, the media free zone of Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates. It can be considered the first innovative and conceptual office design in the emirate, where the classic scheme of the typical workplace is re-invented and the traditional arrangement of the office functions into “rooms and corridors” is replaced by a fluid, informal and interactive space. In this innovative design, relationships between users are set to be a priority and an accomplishing remarkable success to the challenge of mixing the local taste with modern interpretation.
The method and means of tectonic principles that govern the dispersion of mass and surface in the project proposal are subject to folding and overlapping of curved tectonic bodies. These tectonic and massing arrangements are intended to create paths of intersection and to architecturally express a forward movement projected toward the sea. The architectural formation is governed by articulation of space for the purpose of international expositions and cultural showcases. Retail and entertainment are also integrated as part of the seascape dynamic Expo Center. As the multi-massed complex is a dispersion of activates ranging from shopping, dining, expositions, and yacht clubs, it transforms the edge of Abu Dhabi into an iconic sea formation. Iconic architectural expressions within the proposal are articulated in the sail composition of being in flight at the precipice of the sea. The flowing sail architectural node within the complex becomes the epicenter of the showcase functions while enhancing the viewing, dining, and entertainment experience.
The Al Hilal Bank Tower project was an exceptional design opportunity on a highly visible and distinguished site on Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi. Goettsch Partners developed a design solution that offered a unique form derived from a combination of site and contextual influences. The building varies in its massing and aesthetic in order to provide a unique and distinguished building for the site. The building derives its massing from a push and pull effect at the outer corners to achieve a unique form. The building’s skin changes at the “void” locations to accentuate the shifting aesthetic. The tower itself is a value driven class A office building composed of efficient lease spans and column free interior floor plates. The Al Hilal Bank Tower incorporates a distinguished design that will set the standard for the island.
To include the building complex very naturally into the environment, it is placed on different landscape levels. The use of typical colours and patterns does not only help to fit the complex into the natural landscape, it also refers to the already existing UPC building.
Design and construction of a third gateway crossing linking Abu Dhabi Island to the Gulf south shore. Our two-way four lane highway bridge features cantilevered road decks suspended from symmetrical steel arches, which form a sinusoidal waveform – giving this huge structure its fluid silhouette.
Al Qudra Real Estate (AQRE) intend to call out to a design competition for an iconic hotel in Zayed Bay Development in the choice property between Sheikh Zayed Bridge and the sea, as a waterfront mixed-use development situated at the entrance of Abu Dhabi Island – United Arab Emirates.Zayed Bay was planned as a mixed-use community comprising office, residential, commercial, retail, entertainment, hotel, and community services facilities. A project is an iconic, 9 stories, five-star hotel which caters to the development and the region. Well appointed, fully equipped and prestigious designed, the hotel is the ideal setting for business meetings, conferences, press events and workshops. One of several unique buildings specified as part of masterplan concept for Dubai, The Opus comprises two structures, conceived as a single cube eroded by a free-form void, which appears to ‘hover’ above ground-level. A pixilated reflective façade renders the cube full by day; by night, it ‘dematerializes’ as light floods the void.
The opening of the iconic Yas Hotel, with interiors by Jestico + Whiles and architecture by New York City based Asymptote Architecture’s Hani Rashid and Lise Anne Couture coincided with the inaugural Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 1 2009. Jestico + Whiles was appointed by Aldar Hotels and Hospitality as interior designers of the luxury Yas Hotel which occupies a prime position; spanning the most exciting corner of the new Yas Marina F1 Grand Prix circuit, on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The architectural form is unique in that the circuit could be said to run through the hotel, and one of the twin elliptical wings sits in the Marina itself.
A new performing arts centre housing five theatres, music hall, concert hall and opera house – conceived as a sculptural form, emerging naturally from the intersection of pedestrian pathways within a new cultural district – a growing organism that spreads through successive branches which form the structure like ‘fruits on the vine’.
As a signature architectural statement, the Strata Tower’s articulate, striking physical presence seeks to encapsulate meaning through the use of abstract form drawn from both local cultural landscapes and motifs and dynamic forces of global influence. The Strata Tower’s design utilizes primarily mathematical means in its design to achieve both a poetic, as well as highly pertinent, architecture for the UAE, a region in flux with ambitions for continued rapid growth.
