The design brief called for a corporate office for this renowned Indian fashion brand in order to represent their contemporary design ideology and their core values while crafting a simplistic yet dynamic and flexible work environment.
The challenge was to create a cohesive space and maintain the conventional appeal as defined in the design brief. Inheriting a low building height, and a very odd floor plate that is apparent in the plans, the challenge was also to optimize the spatial arrangement. At DCA, we believe that every challenge has to be converted into an opportunity. Thus, the challenge of a very spread out floor plate has been converted into an opportunity by creating two separate entrances-one for the overall office and the other for the top management. The two wings house the main office and the top management separately, and hence enable ease of access from the two entrances. The intent is to maximize the daylight penetration as well, and hence most rooms barring a couple, get sufficient daylight.

The site of the weekend house is located in the outskirts of Ahmedabad. The houses were to be designed for two friends, in the same plot. The purpose of the house was that of a weekend or a farmhouse, which later on could be used as a permanent residence too. Both the houses were designed very similar to each other, on the client’s demand.
Two individual houses were to be designed for 2 brothers and their families was the brief of this project. The plot (1000 smt) is situated in the R3 zone of the outskirts of Ahmedabad (a city in the western part of India). A very clear instruction from the client was that they did not want to divide the plot and use it as a huge common space for both the families.
Seamless waves flowing on the landscape and flowing on the façade are the focal point of the design proposal for this full service five star property. Designed as an iconic building the proposal looks at interweaving the concepts of waves in nature, fold lines as movement trajectories and perception along with programmatic requirements.
