Asahigaoka house in Aichi, Japan by Tatsuya Kawamoto + Associates

Sunday, March 12th, 2023

Article source: Tatsuya Kawamoto + Associates

With that one word from the client, the story for the construction to be built here was decided, but in order to realize this, it is necessary to have a “rational way of building on land”.

This is a private residence built on a slope 4 m down from the road toward the pond.

In the case of such sloping land, it can be said that the general solution is to create a semi-underground RC frame that withstands soil pressure from above and takes into account the fit on the waterproof.

Housing for married couples and children located in Aichi, Japan. The surrounding area is different from the well-maintained cityscape, and there is a narrow and diagonal road that remains from the old days, and you can see irregular sites. The site was irregular due to the proximity of narrow roads running diagonally. There are many houses around the site with fences and hedges. Toshima dental clinic in Aichi, Japan by tai_tai STUDIO

Tuesday, September 10th, 2019

Article source: tai_tai STUDIO

This is a dental clinic. This architecture is in a rural area where there was no dental clinic.

This clinic is a wooden flat. It is one of the local medical centers for people living in this area, especially for the elderly and children. The floor is 80cm above the ground because it is potentially flooded, but it is a one-storied house with large windows and a lot of wood on the outer wall to create an atmosphere that is easy for locals to enter. Wood and plaster are used as interior materials to soften the indoor atmosphere. There is a skylight in the examination room and you can see the sun and the sky. Even people who are not good at treating teeth can relax.

Thursday, March 7th, 2019

Article source: nanometer architecture

It is a seaside villa repair plan. The premises was an ordinance that made it impossible to build and proceeded with a plan not requiring confirmation. Sand is dancing with strong sea breeze, and it is a tough condition that sand is blown indoors from the window.

The garage hut facing the sea became a barrier to the garden and the repair to fill the gap was repeated, but it obstructed the view to the sea. Re-acquisition of the view to the sea, renovation to the place where the former earth which was the living room can be used integrally with the garden was desired.

Clinic NK in Aichi, Japan by 1-1 Architects

Friday, August 17th, 2018

Article source: 1-1 Architects

The site is a long shape facing the 4-lane highway on the north side and 4 meters wide on the south side, giving void to the townscape along these roads. The plan described here is building a dental clinic specializing in aesthetic dentistry and pediatric dentistry here.

Considering the empiric position of the patient, we feel that a dental clinic should be abele to contain various parts according to the different activities. For example, reception → waiting → tooth brushing corner → treatment room → X-ray → treatment room → waiting → payment. In order to translate the act of movement into the structure of architecture itself, we considered each rooms of the clinic as the destinations and transposed “→” into an aisle connecting them together. Specifically, in order to conform to the directionality of the site, a long aisle is set at the center of the building, and necessary rooms that become destinations are arranged on both sides of the building. In the aisle, processing was done on the ceiling surface by whitening the surface deceives the human perception of the real size of the room and ends as a door that allows us to feel the extensibility of the space. As a result, the whole planned as a sensory outside space where the state of light changes throughout the day. The sensory outside which changes according to the natural light installed in the center of the building has connection with each room, thereby preventing excessive consideration on privacy from which leads to a sense of limitation.

bistro La vie in Aichi, Japan by iks design

Wednesday, December 20th, 2017

Article source: iks design

For a casual French bistro, an interior design with comfort and a proper sense of tension was pursued.

Only materials such as brass, thick solid wood, and antique scaffold planks – those that would have enhanced characteristics as they age – were used for finishes. Brass was used as eye-catchers for lights, hanger pipes, furniture knobs and handles, window frames, decorative screws, etc., in order to provide gorgeousness to the interior. The antique scaffold planks add a casual atmosphere to the space, preventing it from being too sophisticated.

Dragon Court Village in Aichi, Japan by Eureka

Thursday, May 25th, 2017

Article source: Eureka

Within our fieldwork in Asian cities and villages, conducted against a backdrop of increased threats from severe weather and global warming, we sometimes encounter with adaptable housing cultures that border against natural disasters; ecological and customary architectural behaviors that have likened to elements of the natural environment; and methods to help maintain and continue such things. Today, with the rapid urbanization of Southeast Asia, especially from China to the Indochina, the act of observing native and traditional architectures and villages is synonymous with observing their very own destruction and acceptance. The life of barely scraping by, sometimes becoming subject to unlawfully dense surroundings, is very much reliant on the ability to tolerate ambiguity, semitransparent and gradational special qualities, and the architecture`s redundant and updating nature. In this scheme, such qualities were pulled into a tangible plan.
