Casa Feliz in Sasawane, India by ADND

Article source: ADND

A strong need of a connection, change and unlearning (learning’s and experience of urban world) calls for a creation of such a threshold in the built form. A meandering driveway around dense cluster of existing trees inaugurates your connection with nature and ultimately reveals the front facade of the house. The unforeseeable scale of a 20 feet wide main steel entrance door set in a punctuated brick facade, redefines scale and acts as a divider between the outside and the inside world. It is this physical threshold that disconnects you from the mundane of the world and at the same time embarks placidness. Passing through this portal one feels purged of their non-tangible baggage hence reinforcing the concept of a threshold.

The Mango House in Alibaug, India by Puran Kumar Architects

Tuesday, December 1st, 2015

Article source: Puran Kumar Architects

The Mango House is the physical manifestation of a quest to connect with the natural environment. The essence of design here is simplicity in thought and expression through the form, material and décor of the structure. The organic nature of the construction successfully connects the outside with the inside and thus manages to convey an earthy feel through its free-flowing plan. The house is a blend of various elements & building materials that are ‘azonic’, lending simplicity to the design.

Article source: SPASM Design Architects

Located in a small village Munavali, proximal to Alibaug, a favorite getaway, for affluent Bombay citizens as a place to build their dream country home. The allotment (3 acres) was partly a grove of Tamarind and Mango trees , with the odd , Champa, Vad tree. Part of the plot was four feet lower and was, an unkempt paddy field . The front of the property is a not so busy asphalt road.
