Gallarda House in Almería, Spain by José Francisco García-Sánchez, architecto

Friday, February 3rd, 2017

Article source: José Francisco García-Sánchez, architecto

«Las Negras» is a small town in Níjar, Almeria (Spain), with fishing tradition. The settlement is situated betwen a cape called «El Puntón» and the «Cerro Negro» (black mountain) cliff: emblem, icon and, surely, town´s origin.

The Gallarda House, is a holiday residence that, probably, it will end up becoming the permanent residence of a young couple with an intense social life. It is a house of ample dimensions in its public area —living and dining room— and it is always connected with the outdoor area: terraced plot, where it will be planted pine tree, as much as the pool deck. Therefore, it proposed a life of simple acts, without sacrifice the daily pleasures: water a plants, sit to read under a tree or dive into the water. The Mediterranean architecture was always that simple white frame, sometimes invisible which man comes to happiness almost without realizing it.

Archaeology museum in Almería, Spain by Paredes Pedrosa Arquitectos

Wednesday, December 14th, 2016

Article source: Paredes Pedrosa Arquitectos

The urban context of the new Museum, surrounded by high rise housing and a ring road, determined its compact character. The building is placed as a single bulk at one of the edges of the lot available, leaving the space remaining as facility for the city. The entrance is located at the end of this plaza, slightly elevated above the level of the nearby roads, becoming a public space for the city as well as an outdoor lobby for the museum. The existing palm garden aside was kept and extended in order to include it within the exhibition space. The Museum is meant to host an outstanding archaeological collection from sites in the Almeria area, formerly located in dispersed places.

Article source: MVN Arquitectos

Up in the light, abandoned the heart, is delivered. Collected. Finally lulled and without penalty. Hosts In the light where no one suffers violence, because it has gotten there, in that light, without and even force any door without opening it, without going through lintels of light and shadow, without effort and without protection. “ María Zambrano, Notes of a method.

The AA Home project arose from the need to build a site able to create a meaningful place. “So the house does not destroy this sense of peace that I had the first time I looked at the horizon from this hill, and to protect it” they asked us.

For this public tendering process, announced by the Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian regional government) we used the experience gained both in Erfurt (Germany) and in Málaga. We obtained the first price. After four years of meetings, changes of plans, etc. the execution project was finally formalized. Fortunately, the spirit of the project was preserved and, therefore, the main ideas of the contest’s preliminary project were maintained. As a result, the building was the original one from the point of view of architecture and town planning.
