DC Towers I + II in Vienna, Austria by Dominique Perrault Architecture

Thursday, May 18th, 2017

Article source: Dominique Perrault Architecture

The design of the two high-rise towers for the Donau-City in Vienna represents the concluding phase of a development extending over several decades: on what was originally a municipal rubbish tip the UNO-City was erected (1973–1979), tentative plans to hold the 1995 Vienna-Budapest EXPO here were soon abandoned, as a result architects Krischanitz and Neumann (commissioned by WED AG) produced an urban design masterplan for the area in 1992. The outcome is an entirely new urban district with a diverse range of functions.

Loft Panzerhalle in Salzburg, Austria by smartvoll

Wednesday, April 19th, 2017

Article source: v2com

2013, architects of smartvoll came out as winners at the internationally advertised contest for the loft in the Panzerhalle. Their design captivates through specific, spatial dramaturgy. On 350 square meters and two storeys, the classic idea of a “loft” is noticeable, yet is being reinterpreted in many regards. “I never play with the façade, I do not live there“, said Adolf Loos. As Loos has concerned himself with definitions of space, smartvoll does the same, more than 100 years later. A special focus lies on the exhaustion of materials and of what is technologically possible. Architecture unfolds on the inside. The room- and material-concept develops the encountered and retains the established. Smoothed and waxed concrete is one of the decisive materials for shaping the interior.

Viertel Zwei Plus Mixed-Use Residential & Commercial Development in Vienna, Austria by Hariri & Hariri Architecture

Tuesday, April 11th, 2017

Article source: Hariri & Hariri Architecture

This master-plan includes six buildings and an undulating landscape as a tray holding all the different activities, buildings, technologies and sustainable systems. Each building is unique in shape, form, and size held together by an Interlocking Wrapper in wood and stone. In contrast to the typical repetitive and contemporary residential projects of the 20th century, we have maximized the variety of apartments, views, exterior spaces and experiences. The wrapper is the element that unifies the different variables. The same concept applies to the bleacher buildings, making them part of the larger whole while preserving their historic integrity.

Eiermuseum in Winden am See, Austria by gaupenraub+/-

Friday, March 24th, 2017

Article source: gaupenraub+/-

The new building is developed more like an annex than as a singular object – its appearance is more linked to its place of location than to its function.

The existing vegetation at the site are only trees without any bushes so there is a horizontal level of about two meters free-view on the whole open-air-museum which we didn´t want to disturb with our work.

Finaly the clients received a showcase-extension on these groundfloor forming a new open public yard together with the existing buildings.

Stadthalle Hall F in Vienna, Austria by Dietrich | Untertrifaller Architekten

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017

Article source: Dietrich | Untertrifaller Architekten

The new Hall F is an ingenious addition to the previously less developed southeast side of the monumental complex of Wiener Stadthalle, creating impact even on its own. The concert, show, dance, fashion and even circus venue sits 2,000 spectators. Furthermore, congresses and conventions can be facilitated. Even though it is a particularly appealing urban location, the new edifice does not steal the spotlight from Roland Rainer’s hall, which was built half a century prior.

Sakura in Wien, Austria by NERMA LINSBERGER ZTGMBH

Sunday, February 12th, 2017

Article source: v2com

The property is located on a very busy intersection. An intervention in the existing building use class made possible better light and sun exposure conditions. In order to defuse the “T”-point, a V-shaped courtyard has been cut into the building. The paths to the access balcony and the ancillary areas are concentrated around the courtyard.

A passage in the East creates a pedestrian connection between Brünnerstraße and a park in the West.
