The “Apartment H+M” project comprises the restoration of a 130m2-apartment in a classic Viennese old building on the piano nobile of a house that was built at the turn of the century. It is located on ÄußereMariahilferstrasse in Vienna’s 15th district. For this project our client was looking for an apartment with preservable original substance that was not altered by typical mistakes of previous renovation attempts.
Steirereck is one of the best restaurants in the world. The need for more internal space and the ever-increasing demands placed on this sector meant that a comprehensive re-formulation became necessary, despite renovations being completed only a few years before.
Old becomes new
The task comprised restructuring and extending the old school for forest wardens from the 1970s in order to create a contemporary educational institution. the old residential wing was demolished because of the building’s structure and its low ceiling height. the concrete rubble was used as subgrade for the new building. The classroom wing and the gym hall could be preserved and were expanded by another set of classrooms and a large gym hall. the four building parts are grouped equitably around the new one-storey centre of the school.
The main focus of this design is the connection between the long tradition of the building of Sofiensäle and modern, contemporary architecture.
The Room is café, bar, restaurant and club in one location. The day design offers bright colors and a cozy feel-good atmosphere for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner or just a cup of coffee or tea, whilst the central bar area bribes the visitors at night with different lightning moods and fancy cocktails.
The building is situated in a small, placid hamlet in the municipality of Schwarzenberg in the midst of the gorgeous scenery of the Bregenz forest landscape.
Wien Energie is known as an open, flexible, ecological and customer-oriented company. All these attributes are also included in the design. Just as Wien Energie supplies power and energy for an entire city the basic idea of the design is to develop a system that combines all the different exhibition areas through a kind of network as well.
The ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways) has decided to build their corporate headquarters in the immediate vicinity of the new Vienna main train station. The Viennese architectural firm Zechner & Zechner emerged as winners from the two-stage, EU-wide architectural planning competition in 2009.
The central urban business location is transformed to become an intelligent and functional business park with urban flair. The resident production companies are supplemented with offices, studios and manufacturing plants from the creative industries and are converted into the ambient business park breitensee. The residual voids create a three-dimensional development of alternatively allocated exterior areas, which double up as office terraces and also help boost communication and shape the identity of the business park.
The Graz-based design collective SPLITTERWERK was commissioned to design this headquarters building for PRISMA Engineering, a machine and motor technology company also located in Graz. The objective was to design a structure which could house the company’s various research and development programs, and selectively showcase the work to a varied range of often competing clientele. Thus the building design needed to accommodate both high-end testing and presentation without jeopardizing the security and secrecy with which the work is developed.
