The winning scheme by Bramberger [Architects] proposes four blocks of buildings and a corresponding area of dedicated open spaces, articulated longitudinally by a main axle. This axle, named “Communications Promenade” acts as a central route between the buildings and, in the future, it is proposed to connect the surrounding buildings, promoting the necessary infrastructures for the creation of an investigation campus. The chess-like distribution of the buildings allows a multiplicity of visual relations between interior and exterior spaces.
A bowl that morphs into a dome that morphs back into a bowl… The bowl is a theater — the dome a café, restaurant – the warping of dome into bowl & vice versa makes a playground. Light glows up fromthe bleachers & down from the dome; water pours down the shell of the dome.
The primal need of the client was to combine both his dwelling house and his physical therapist´s practice in one building thereby ensuring privacy for the living space and enabling the therapy rooms to be open and visible to the public.
WU CAMPUS – A SPECIAL PLACE FOR EDUCATION AND RESEARCH
With its present roster of some 23,000 students, the Vienna University of Economics and Business is practically bursting at the seams, which does not make it easy to study, work or carry out research. That will change in 2013. There will be space for every student, every professor and every single faculty member. There will be space for communicating, for discussing, for exchanging ideas, for studying, for teaching, for researching, for discovering and relaxing.
We envisage the new academic space located at the north-east of the new Campus of the Vienna University of Economics and Business as a venue for multiple networking. More than a mere building, the Teaching Center is a learning platform that promotes spontaneous communication while also making it possible to undertake the classes and activities that occur within. This quest for spontaneous exchange has different levels and scales sharing one common denominator: the path is the goal. For us, a contemporary Teaching Center should encourage curiosity in the everyday routine of those who teach as well as those who learn, becoming a place where moving about and getting on stagedoes not lead to experiencing spatial boundaries by instead giving free reign to the imagination.
The Campus is a sequence of intertwining open spaces. Buildings on the different zones qualify these spaces from an architectural point of view. The Master Plan model determined the design of these open areas; a fabric of interior and exterior spaces, defined by the location of the buildings’ entrances in relation to the plazas, brings life to the intended environment.
The architects’ office heri&salli from Vienna created in a residential building of a private building owner in Austria a so-called pleated dress”, a façade design that is positioned in front of the building including a grid system lying behind. The bent perforated plates can be shifted individually on a perimeter frame as required.
The architects‘s office heri&salli from Vienna created in a residential building of a private building owner in Austria a so-called Netlight”. A steel construction combined with a Plexiglas shell that dissolves into fragmentary lines was placed in an airspace surrounded by a gallery.
The architecture office heri&salli from Vienna developed for the city “Strasshof an der Nordbahn”, located north of Vienna, different urban developments.
If the inventors of Strasshof, could have had their way the city on the northern railway line today could be the “biggest and most beautiful city” of Lower Austria, planned on an orthogonal street grid following the US-example – unique for Austria. A garden as well as an industrial city that was to be developed in 1908 after the construction of the shunting station in the surrounding area on the Strasserfeld. Because of the political history of Austria this plan never could be realized, only the planned street grid remained and became the basis of the building structure we find nowadays in Strasshof. Today we have to accept that the conception of the city has failed.
The brief was to plan an office building with low energy consumption on the periphery of Innsbruck. The site operates as a gate to the city, due to its proximity to the Innsbruck Ost transport hub.
