Kitzbuehel Mansion in Austria by Splendid Architecture

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

Article source: Splendid Architecture

When architect and designer Nina Schmid visited the very steep plot surrounded by mountains for the first time she knew instantly that she had to find a way to capture the fantastic views. The unique location of this property in the Alps should become noticeable from the outside and the inside. The two wings of the building appear like two pieces of wood. The center part of the mansion reminds of a fire, with its shimmering and sparkling appearance. It is the heart of the building: it connects the upper and lower tract. Starting from this center the whole ground plan was developed: the construction and different functions of the Kitzbuehel Mansion rely on this center.

The scheme aims at accommodating and negotiating the differing and ever changing needs of an extended family. A generous, skylight staircase becomes the gallery of the house and the core of the home linking the two dwellings. Living areas of different sizes and acoustic qualities are designed to cater for music events and social gatherings of various scales. Between the ‘built’ and the ‘un-built’ of the lush urban garden, frames, platforms, niches and extrusions, create intricate relations and unexpected perspectives.

MPO9 Headquarter in Graz, Austria by GSarchitects ZT-GmbH

Article source: GSarchitects ZT-GmbH

MP09  Headquarter Uniopt Pachleitner Group in Graz / Austria

An architectonic punctuation at an exposed site of the city – a new and distinctive Entree to the city – a future oriented potential for development for the whole area.

Putting a company into the spotlight means transforming a philosophy into architecture. The ‘black panther’s does not only recount the story of the company but he emotionalises, he describes a vision and makes it physically and sculpturally ascertainable. Where Design and shape evolve, ideas emerge and become manifest in mass. Elegant and smooth, the ‘black Panther’s composes eagerness and speed to the urban architecture. His watchful eyes attend the street – movement and silhouette merge in the dance of the forces and the night.

Article source: MAGK illiz Architekten

An influx and increasing birth rate in the community situated to the south of Vienna called for the creation of more, particularly state-of-the-art child care facilities. Therefore a competition tender submission for a new child care centre was issued in 2008. The existing 19th century ‘Gründerzeit’ school was to be extended by eight primary school classes, a after-school care club and a kindergarten with kitchen.

The association of architects MAGK illiz won the competition and was awarded the tender.

borg + nms deutsch-wagram in Deutsch-wagram, Austria by franz zt gmbh

Saturday, January 14th, 2012

Article source: franz zt gmbh

One (school) for all

Central and still removed from the heavy traffic of the federal highway one can find the most important public institutions of Deutsch-Wagram lined up along a footpath: city administration, kindergarten, primary and secondary schools. In order to enable school education up to university entrance qualification, the municipal council decided the erection of an upper secondary school with focus on natural sciences and mathematics (“Realgymnasium”). At the same time, the existing secondary school (“Hauptschule”) needed to be expanded. A common institution for both types of school promised to yield valuable synergies. Spatial proximity to the other educational institutions seemed logical, but the available property with park and landscape pond was a valuable area used by kindergarten and elementary school during recess. Moreover, it was not without problems with regard to structural engineering for a large-volume building task.
