Streckhof Reloaded in Zellerndorf, Austria by Franz Architekten

Urban planning

The site is located in a settlement of detached single-family houses, characteristic for the 1970s. the traditional arrangement of functions for each storey: basement/garage; ground floor/living space; attic floor/ bedrooms; has been transformed into a linear order. the so called “streckhof”, the original farm model for this area has been adapted by stringing together different functions in one floor.

National Library of Austria Extension in Hofburg, Vienna by Prechteck

prechteck’s design proposal for the extension to the national library of Austria located at the Hofburg in Vienna contains a number of cultural facilities, creative studios, a restaurant and shops.

Aichinger House with external curtains in Kronstorf, Austria by Hertl Architekten

Hertl Architekten designed the Aichinger house which used to be a restaurant, composed of two bars, bounded by a cross wing. The challenge was to renovate one of the buildings and to expand it to two flats. One of these bars should be thermal renovated and expanded into two flats. With few convertions of the existing walls it works to organize a new space use. The first floor and the cellar can be reached by an outdoor stairway made of concrete.
