The project arises from the need of clients to create a refuge near Madrid where they could get away from their busy lives in the city center. The plot and its location almost completely determine the design of the house. A small plot located within a pine forest with a 12 meter height difference and views to the valley to the South. These conditions were the beginning of the project: be able to enjoy the views of the forest from every room in the house, minimal intervention of the area and main orientation towards the South.
The house is a continuous space where the rooms are generated from a single surface. This surface is broken to adapt to the geography of the plot and to generate the different rooms or modules; therefore, each room has a different orientation and opening towards the forest with the idea of creating a distorted and un-homogeneous space. Volumetrically it consists of a single floor, sectioned into several levels, with a gabled roof that volumetrically creates geometric, quasi-parametric encounters.
Cepsa is one of Spain’s largest industrial group operating for over 80 years. In recent years it has become a major player in the global energy market. Yet it is their petrol stations that are the crucial touch-point that connects the brand with society.
Located at a high altitude (1200 meters above sea level), Las Navas del Marqués is characterized by cold winters and mild summers, which determine a low annual average temperature (10 ° C).
Taking advantage of the views of the valley of San Miguel coincident with the best orientation (south west), the house opens into the views and closes as much as possible to the north, avoiding energy losses.
The “El Tiemblo House”, represents the key values of the Infiniski brand: modular, greener, cheaper, faster, better, cooler and flexible. The project is based on a bioclimatic and modular design, using a prefabricated construction process allowing a reduction in costs, time and environmental impact. Thanks to it’s “modularity” the house was thought in a way it can be easily enlarged depending on the future needs of the client.
A dwelling of generous proportions developed over a single storey to facilitate the indoor-outdoor connection and to make the most of the environment in which it stands. Surrounded by meadows, tree groves, chestnut, pine and oak trees and wildlife represented by stags, wild boar and roe deer, the edifice establishes a recognised link with the traditional architecture and vernacular customs. Stone, tile, wood have been used in its construction.
