“Devide and Conquer” said Julius Cesar in Rome, and it is also what the less belligerent Barcelona´s real state promoters think when faced with the challenge of converting former industrial spaces at @22 district towards their residential use.
The keynote of the kitchen is found in the design of the ceiling, made up of slats of lacquered MDF, white like the rest of the kitchen units, that are integrated with the lighting and accompany us naturally to the exterior to enjoy the dining area. The designer plays with the sensation of being “in suspension” along with the outside.
Located in the traditional Barcelona Ensanche area, this apartment shared some typical traditional aspects such as a long, narrow and partitioned layout from façade to façade with hydraulic tiles flooring, and wall and ceiling moldings.
The aim of the project was to redistribute the space available at the premises, conditioning it for restaurant use. The shape of the spaces were quite irregular, so we proposed to concentrate the services – bar, kitchen and bathrooms.-, in the central area, This move, allowed us to place the two main restaurant areas one at the front elevation and the other facing the patio. Diners were always located in areas enjoying natural light, either facing the street or the rear patio.
Tia Santa is a new healthy food restaurant chain. Vilalta Arquitectura was commissioned to design the architecture of the first restaurant in the heart of Barcelona, near the crossroads of the main avenues Passeig de Gràcia and Diagonal.
“Casa Sophie Apartment Refurbishment in Gràcia, Barcelona”
The project consists of the complete refurbishment of a 160m2 apartment, in one of the most important axis of the city. The geometry of its original plan layout corresponds to the building typology with load-bearing walls parallel to the facade and the rooms positioned to each side of a long corridor. The owners were attracted by the traditional typology of the flat and its exceptional illumination by the three patios. It had not undergone any fundamental change during its 100-year life.
The project saw the restoration of part of the former army barracks, dedicated to horse breeding, at La Remunta in Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona. In agreement with the City Council, part of the enclosure has been converted to a public park and sites earmarked for the development of housing blocks. All remaining buildings on the site are protected.
The Popeye restaurant and cocktail bar is located in the Les Corts district of Barcelona. They were two independent establishments that became this diaphanous and luminous space.
A construction with an architectural character and segregated in several parts with a large common garden, was what Lluís Clotet and José Antonio Martínez La Peña were looking for in the late eighties to live. The result of the search was to find a majestic “mansion” in Alella, which consists of an old Cottage from 1778 reformed and enlarged in a large Modernist house in 1909. After the discovery, the house was segregated by floors, causing each Tenant would have a floor.
