Dear Design studio, design office based in Barcelona, Spain has completed the design of Mynt flagship store, a fashion and accessorize brand. The store of a 40sqm is located in shopping center in Barcelona.
The store design is based on a three-dimensional grid that creates a visually permeable volume, which commands the space, while generating niches to expose the product. The elements of the structure were progressively grown according to a recurrence relation inspired by the Fibbonacci sequence suggesting a progressive and open expansion of space.
We where asked to conceive a building that contained a public civic center as well as emergency residences.
The facility is located in the midpoint between a school area and a public service zone. The building attempts to occupy the maximum surface possible in order to create a inner public square, since the surrounding neighborhoods are lacking of one.
The project consists of a total interior rehabilitation of a small flat, built at the beginning of the XX century.
Our challenge in this project was to redesign some spaces to get bigger and comfortable ambients.
It was in very bad conditions and with too many rooms, spaces, in a small net floor area; so the approach to the project has been to intervene as much as possible in its original rooms distribution.
Artigas Arquitectes searched of the distinction and singularity of this house, located in Barcelona, that arises from the idea of creating an ideal habitable space in the interior of a pure and light volume, which has a regular shape and is permeable to the excellent natural conditions and location.
The existing volume could not be changed, so we adapt the guest house program to it.
First of all we covered with insulation and waterproofing the roof, and then we did the same with the facades and interior space.
The idea is to open the inside space to outside, so the users could be available to enjoy the large garden with views. The cover is extended with a new wicker pergola with iron structure, so we can increase the terrace space and visitors will be more in touch with the garden, the nature and the orchard.
This building and warehouse have been designed and located on a plot of land between two blocks of flats, which represent difficulties to get natural light, and also, a comfortable relationship with the surroundings. At first thought, the site was not suitably located. It is to say, the outdoor settings aren’t a welcoming zone, for a family house. Another negative outstanding point is the fact that this place is extremely noisy. It gets the maximum of decibels according to regulations.
The building is situated in the center of the plot, respecting the limits for construction and plot ratio.
The house rises as a single body. Its shape is influenced by physical and morphological conditions and by the program.
The initial idea of the project is to expand the building up inside the parcel and surrounding existing trees in order to preserve the maximum possible trees; later the shape was adapted to the program, to acquire the final setting.
The project presents the renovation of an apartment located in the ‘Eixample’, Barcelona. The building dating from 1930, has a surface of 70 sq2 with a main façade facing ‘Provença’ street and a service yard.
At first, the apartment had the typical distribution of the old dwellings in Barcelona, many subdivided rooms and different layers of materials that had overlaid over the years. Regarding the limited budget available, we decided to maintain the location of the kitchen and bathroom, renewing them completely and therefore use more resources in the rest of the apartment.
The owners, who have been living in Barcelona for quite some time, were looking for a home where they could start a new professional and family adventure. They contacted us with two different apartments, from which it was very hard to choose from, but had a very clear idea of their needs.
The Hotel Vincci Gala is a four-star hotel with 78 rooms, bar, restaurant, meeting rooms, and various terraces, situated in a period building in Barcelona´s Eixample district. The design of the new Hotel Vincci Gala is marked by two requirements. Firstly, the obligation of the Monument Protection Department of Barcelona to conserve both the facade and a large white marble staircase in the inside of the building and secondly, the name of the Hotel: “Gala” referring to the wife and muse of the surrealist painter Salvador Dalí.
