Ikibana Paral Restaurant in Barcelona, Spain by El Equipo Creativo

Tuesday, May 14th, 2013

Article source: El Equipo Creativo

The Ikibana restaurant offers a fusion of Japanese and Brazilian gastronomies, two cultures that seem so antagonistic: quiet and minimalist the first, exuberant and bustling the second. One of the biggest conceptual challenges during the design of the restaurant was finding shared singularities between these two cultures. Being a great challenge, it also became the leitmotif of the project, as we discovered that the landscape was an extremely important element in both cultures, and we decided to extol this element in the design of the space and create an artificial landscape.

Yute’s Warehouse in Barcelona, Spain by Flores Prats Arquitectos

Wednesday, March 13th, 2013

Article source: Flores Prats Arquitectos

The YUTE’S project is an extension of an existing textile warehouse. The two young clients had bought an old offices building with some storage at its side, and after a few years of use they started to miss storage area, so they though in enlarging it. The original building didn’t have much quality from the architectural point of view, but from the beginning we thought that was better to keep as much as possible of the existing and growing from that, instead of demolishing all and start a new building.

Can Baró Library in Barcelona, Spain by Sierra Rozas Arquitectes

Tuesday, March 12th, 2013

Article source: Sierra Rozas Arquitectes

The place destined for the enlargement and the whole Can Baró environment, preserved the charm of those areas where diversity and disunity required a forceful, logical and considered response. The enlargement becomes an extension of the topography looking for a merger between the building and the public area, which is not seen as something that we find between the buildings, but is integrated into the architecture. The architectural area is something that we find hidden or camouflaged within the topography.

16 Social Housing for Granollers Town Hall in Barcelona, Spain by ONL Arquitectura

Thursday, March 7th, 2013

Article source:

The architectural strategy used has been to create a building whose exterior is defined by a language that seeks abstraction through colour, rhythm, and movement: a language that will contrast with the domestic private life of the residents inside. To combine these two concepts moveable panels have been mounted on the façades. By opening or closing them, residents can choose the level of light or privacy they want at any time throughout the year.

La Baldufa Municipal Kindergarten in Baix Llobregat, Barcelona by ONL Arquitectura

Thursday, March 7th, 2013

Article source: ONL Arquitectura

As the site is small and triangular in shape, the project design has to focus on devoting as much exterior space as possible to the playground, in a single area oriented to the south. The simplicity of the exterior building envelope, in particular the roof which has a single slope, is only broken by two skylights which provide the natural light needed inside the classrooms in a uniform way.
