The 22@ district in Poble Nou (Barcelona) has been suffering multiple transformation processes recently. The blocks that Ildefonso Cerdà designed as part of the urban latticework of the Eixample were initially occupied by industries, workshops and eventually isolated residential buildings. Nowadays, most of the constructions have been demolished except those that deserved to be conserved due to their singularity. The gaps between the historic existing buildings have been refilled with new residential areas, hotels, offices and equipments.
When I was a student at the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB), Barceloneta was the subject of much conversation. Restaurants on the beach which later disappeared… narrow streets, cramped flats, the clothes hanging out on the balconies, the shops, the artisans’ workshops… and its people, who talked, and still talk, fast and loud.
Rubí local market is in a central urban position. It is in a triangular plot, which gives the market the same shape. In the northern side, before the intervention, there was an excavated unbuilt and residual space which was not used. The project proposes building an underground two-storeyed parking, connected to the existing one. Over the new parking, the enlargement of the market is built.
It was proposed to intervene on existing industrial premises at the entrance to the city of Sabadell from the motorway in order to adapt it for use as headquarters of a high-end car dealer. The first stage of the work entailed the completion of the existing construction in order to occupy the entire available space; the second stage involved rearranging the resulting space, through the construction of an intermediate forging. The third one transforms the building into a true advertisement of itself through the iconic assimilation of the metallic protection barriers that extend along the edges of roads and motorways; in this way, the façade of the construction becomes a replica on a giant scale of this metallic profile of sinous section.
The project is part of the partial plan for land subdivision in the sector “La Parada” of Manresa promoted by INCASOL proposed the design of a main axis, av. dels Dolors, where dwellings units are located in isolation. The building consists of PB +5, for a 3 floor commercial premises and the basement with 31 parking spaces and 20 storage rooms.
Home to FC Barcelona, Camp Nou Stadium is already the largest in Europe, with over 98,000 seats. The challenge of this project is to reinvent the existing stadium, enlarging it to accommodate 106,000 fans and provide greatly enhanced public areas and increased hospitality facilities. The project goes beyond a simple refurbishment to impact on the spirit of the place. El Barça is ‘more than a club’, and in that sense Camp Nou is ‘more than a stadium’: it is a symbol of the pride the fans feel for their team; a landmark for the city of Barcelona, and beyond that for the Catalan people.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, friends and acquaintances, police and thieves, candidates for mayor and entrepreneurs, etc. and etc., the city still puts on quite a show. Struggling insolently with the prevailing imperative of sobriety and economy of resources, we are presenting an outrageous and exhibitionist building.

Refurbishment of a duplex attic apartment, whose floors were originally not connected. It is a rectangular, long, narrow and highly compartmentalized space, which called for unitary organization with a sequential layout of spaces. This together with the furnishings designed made the longitudinal axis more dynamic along its length. Taking advantage of the magnificent views the apartment boasts, the façade’s openings were maximized and optimized, affording the entrance of a constant flow of natural light.
In the garden of a single-family detached house a covered garage for two cars had to be accommodated, creating from there access to the house for pedestrians sheltered from the rain, respecting the existing architecture, blending in with it discreetly.
