The project proposes the reorganization of the main welcome space of the park. The new Plaza del Tibidabo acts as a prelude to the character and philosophy of the amusement park and the Collserola mountain.
The proposal proposes a public space that allows the different elements of the park to be organized, as well as a place to hold events and welcome visitors.
The project is built as a large continuous carpet of precast concrete paving stones that extend throughout the main space as an element that homogenizes and allows the placement of all the different objects – fast food places, ice cream, drinks and games; which are randomly positioned according to the client needs.
The space for the FFWD Arquitectes new office is located in a singular building at Barcelona’s Eixample. It is an industrial building that was originally intended for workshops, and where we currently find a wide range of spaces and uses such as studios, workshops and showrooms. The building has a regular structure of columns and the separation of the different departments fits the structural grid.
The space available is in a structural bay, going from the vertical communications hall to the rear facade of the building. As a result, we had an elongated space with an entrance of natural light in the opposite wall to the studio entrance.
The project designed by Nada comes from the need to refurbish a living space of 70m2 (754 ft), located in a multi-family building constructed in the 70s next to Passeig Picasso in Barcelona. The apartment overlooks the Parc de la Ciutadella, the greatest green space in the city centre.
The original state of this space was highly compartmentalized with unused spaces, and a complex circulation between disconnected spaces.
On the slopes of mount Sant Llorenç del Munt – an area of stunning landscapes – we find the Can Solà restaurant: a refurbished, contemporary and fresh space in an eleventh century traditional farmhouse (masía). The natural light, colour and fantastic natural surroundings offer diners a true experience.
With a menu based on local produce and slow cooking over charcoal, the ovens take central stage as an antechamber to the dining area; placed in an open space where the history of the restaurant is cooked.
The proposal for this project was to create a stylish zen space for a young international family with two small children in the heart of Barcelona. Used to living in the countryside, they wanted their love for nature to be present in their urban dwelling as well and, above all, that it conveyed their personal taste and lifestyle.
Situated in a residential building in Barcelona since 1935 and a close proximity from the sea. The refurbished space is located on the top floor. The roof and gable were built using wooden beams and ceramic beam fills, with an optimal height to build a mezzanine, or attic. This would allow extension on the space and, at the same time, could accomodate a discriminating open study to the living room and the bedroom; forming a subtle work space surrounded by comfort in natural materials.
The single-family housing is located at the edge of the city urban plot of Vic, where the views of the landscape and the Montseny become an essential element of the project. Taking advantage of the topography, the house is structured in three levels; the semi-buried parking lot with direct access from the lower street, the ground floor, where the day area is located; kitchen, living room, dining room, office / room and bathroom, with pedestrian and car access from the upper passage, and the first floor, that define the night area, consisting of a double room, two singles rooms and a bathroom.
The intervention strategy consists of reducing the building’s footprint to free up the plant and generate an open space where the user can enjoy the visuals of the Vic landscape in direct connection with the kitchen, living room and dining room.
The program compaction is achieved by creating two bays, where the staircase organizes the distribution and the structure at the same time, and also the economic impact of the intervention is reduced.
A Building Integrated In Sant Pau’s Historical Enclosure
The new Research Institute of Sant Pau is a building where research and construction technology is a component of all architectural and construction design processes to achieve the maximum possible benefits with the minimum environmental, material and economic cost.
The 9,700m2 building has two basements, a ground floor and 3 floors, and is located on the street of Sant Quintí, between the modern Casa de la Convalescència and the new hospital. A large porch on the ground floor makes it a new access to the Sant Pau site. This porch is in the center of the building, aligned with the Carrer de la Torre Vélez.
The project consisted of the remodel of an apartment located in a modern residential building inside the Diagonal Mar Park, a few meters from the beach.
The owners, a couple in love with Barcelona, wanted to refurbish this apartment to enjoy the proximity to the sea and the quietness of this part of the city. They wanted to convert their two bedroom apartment into a comfortable and functional one bedroom home while having the main areas connected and open to the terrace through a spectacular window with views to the park and the sea.
Ylab Arquitectos proposed a complete new layout, prioritizing the communal space formed by the kitchen and the living room, aligned with the master bedroom along one large window.
The residential block is located in Terrassa city centre (Barcelona). It is a rectangular plot on the corner of two roads, one of which is very busy.
As such, the corner becomes one of the most important parts of the project due to its high visibility. The ground floor is to be used as retail space and has a glazed façade.
Two of the main requirements of the developer (private investment) were:
To ensure maximum use of the plot, in terms of the net sales area of the flats.
