BRIC Art Space in Beijing, China by maison h

Monday, May 21st, 2018

Article source: maison h

This art space takes the metaphysical blank space in abstract paintings by contemporary Chinese artists as its starting point. It uses natural light, simple black strokes and translucent materials to create a fuzzy, dream-like physical realm. The project is located within Beijing’s 798 Arts District, as a renovation of a former factory, originally build in the 1970’s during Mao Zedong’s Great Leap Forward.

Sunni 67 in Beijing, China by Atelier About Architecture

Sunday, May 13th, 2018

Article source: Atelier About Architecture

Located in the Xinyuanli district in Beijing, SUNNI 67 is a private kitchen featuring fresh ingredients and exquisite culinary skills.

The idea of the design is to create a space about flavors that allows people to peacefully enjoy wonderful food from the bustling city. Inspired by In Praise of Shadows by Japanese writer Junichiro Tanizaki, the architect tries to explore the connection between taste and vision to create a space that is “melting dimly, dully back, deeper and deeper”.

The Goose Hut Bistro in Beijing, China by Golucci Interior Architects

Thursday, April 26th, 2018

Article source: Golucci Interior Architects

Goose Hut, as the name suggests, is the home of geese. Actually, it also implies the people’s habitat of life. As an old Chinese saying goes, geese fly to their home as people returning home. Returning home, the instinct and nature, shared by both geese and human beings, is contained in the name – ‘Goose Hut Bistro’.

Maybe you do not know the Goose Hut Bistro, you will certainly feel her warmth and sincerity as long as you stepping into the restaurant. We set a distinct position for the goose hut bistro at the beginning of our design.

Hopson Law Department in Beijing, China by Latitude

Thursday, March 8th, 2018

Article source: Latitude

Rather frequently, large working spaces are organized as labyrinthine corridors. They are conceived either as open plans without properly identified areas or as consecutive private rooms that hardly foster communication. Every day, we spend large amounts of energy walking from A to B and back to A, feeling disoriented and sending e-mails to a person sitting just ten meters away from us.

In 2016, LATITUDE was commissioned to design a workspace of 1,100 square meters for the law department of Hopson Development Holdings, a renowned Chinese corporation. Trusting us with such an important endeavor, we approached the complex issue from the user’s point of view.

Xin Xian Inn Hotel in Beijing, China by penda architecture & design

Wednesday, February 21st, 2018

Article source: penda architecture & design

Penda recently finished a Hotel, placed in a Hutong area in the centre of Beijing and reinterprets the Hotel’s surrounding by its form and materiality.

The XinXian Inn Hotel is located in the centre of Beijing, the Dongcheng District around the corner of Galaxy Soho on the eastern 2nd Ring road. The low-budget Hotel is neighbouring the Xinxian Hutong, a large area with traditional chinese courtyard houses, which entrances are now mostly blocked by newly constructed commercial buildings. Throughout Beijing, the rich culture and vivid life-style of the Hutong areas are mostly getting replaced by high-profitable and shallow real-estate blocks. With the XinXian Inn Hotel, we tried to incorporate the atmosphere and history of the Hutong areas into a hospitality design.
