Architectural concept
NW Beijing technology and research centre for the applications of computer technology is located at the intersection of a motorway, bordering the facilities of IT company NW tech. It consists of office buildings, laboratories and experimental energy research centre. The greatest possible degree of spatial flexibility was specified, in order to be able to incorporate new machinery and technical resources without interfering in day to day centre operations. Our primary intention was to create instantly recognizable buildings for the research centre that was vivid in its individuality, with flexibility being one of the key objectives. The architectural expression for the research centre has been inspired by the well organized computing system. As an artificial computing threading that run through the main facade.It also equip with solar tracking system to minimise the direct sun light penetration.
Situated in a tranquil environment of one of the best vocational schools in Beijing, the project aims at providing an iconic image to the institution as well as redefining the use of an existing public space on the central square of the campus.
”Stone Drums” and ”MO BAO”
This design for the NAMOC presents an emblem of Chinese culture and a national museum of global significance for the 21st Century. The architectural concept is based on uniting dualities; past and future, day and night, inside and outside, calm and dynamic, large and small, individual and collective.
With the grand opening of China Open 2011 on September 25 in Beijing, the China National Tennis Center designed by Beijing-based architectural practice Atelier 11 is officially completed and ready to welcome the top players from the world, including Robin Soderling, Li Na, and Caroline Wozniacki, and hundreds of thousands of tennis fans from China and abroad.
KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten International won the first prize in the interna-tional competition for the new Beijing Science Center. The original building housing the Museum was opened in the same place in Beijing in 1988 and at the time was the first national science and technology museum in China. The museum building will be constructed on behalf of the Beijing Association for Science and Technology, China.
The theme of Urbanity in Nature refers to the preservation of the natural qualities of the Yanqing site, located 200km from Beijing, whilst accommodating a certain essential level of urban city life density. The design for the Beijing Creative Zone encompasses compression on a dual scale; the greenbelt and the urban fabric.

Fine Arts School Attached to China Central Academy of Fine Arts
The new 136.000 sqm campus of the Fine Arts School Attached to China Central Academy of Fine Arts is located north-east of Beijing. Some buildings of the ensemble had been structurally completed when Synarchitects was getting involved in the project.
At 1,500 rooms, this hotel will be the largest hotel in Beijing. It is located near the Beijing International Airport in the 5th Ring, and will be used to host international conferences. The building is 303 meters long and is intended to become a major landmark, visible to landing aircraft.
When it is thought about cities, it is not about urban plans, or diagrams. It is about the capacity of cities to provide endless possibilities of living. It is really the experience of shapes and shadows, the experience of reflections, textures and so on… what create the urban experience.
Idenburg Liu (SO – IL), winner of the 2010 MoMA PS1 Young Architects Program, has opened two temporary structures in Beijing and New York. SO-IL’s ”Flockr” pavilion serves as the central hub for “Get It Louder,” a biannual media and arts event taking place in Beijing through October 10th and in Shanghai October 22nd to November 7th. In New York, SO – IL was one of the winners of Sukkah City, a competition to design a small ritual shelter traditionally associated with the Jewish holiday Sukkot. SO-IL’s entry “In Tension” was displayed on Union Square in Manhattan on September 19th and 20th, and the project will be featured at the Center for Jewish History in New York until October 15th.
