“A contemporary apartment, with a clear connection to the modern design of collective housing in the beginning of Brasília”. That was the guidance, which our clients gave us at the time, today our dearest friends, in the beginning of the architectonic design to remodel the apartment, located in middle of Brasília.
For its blue at sunrise and its orange color at dusk, Brasilia has one of the most beautiful skies of Brazil, beloved by locals and visitors. The residential project in question, with 40 housing units, which will be located in the administrative region of Fern, had as its starting point the horizon of the sky of Brasilia.
It’s about a renew of an apartment built in the 80’s, located at Brasília-DF, Brazil. After carefully analyzing the physical structure of the unit could have a clear vision on the real conditions of the apartment.
Narrow rooms due to excess of compartmentation, bad light spaces that caused an enclosure and confined feeling, that describe not an enjoyable place.
The House Carrara’s Project is located in the modernist city of Brasilia and has considered this topic as a determinant factor for its architectural concept and materials choice, also allied to the aesthetic sense the clients were looking for, after all, the environment and the architecture conceived had to be designed to be occupied by dreams, people and its objects.
The project proposes a volumetric “home”, based on the characteristic features of children’s drawings. The goal is to rescue the home of senses: welcome, belonging and familiarity. The student complex, divided into blocks or “houses”, aims to change the concept of school building and become a landscape in its own right, a metaphor for the playhouse or even a small town. The school becomes a symbol for the neighborhood for having a playful feature that differentiates it from other buildings. The warmly of the “houses” invites us to live our dreams, introducing a bit of fantasy to routine life not only of children but of the entire neighborhood; as well as inspire our lives with a little poetry.
The house is located in a residential area in Brasília, far away from the urban center and occupied by small gated communities. This part of the city still presents some characteristics of the original countryside that has originated it, with wide open spaces and native vegetation. The young couple´s desire to have a house that would integrate itself with the surrounding landscape was the starting point of the project. Our objective was to use the architecture to highlight the landscape, not the other way around. An existing natural preservation area in the south and west sides of the plot and its strong descending slope towards the backside have both directed our response. A big existing artificial landfill located three meters below the street level was extended using the soil that was digged out for the construction of the house. We used the resulting space to place all the internal areas in only one level. That decision has allowed the house to remain partially hidden below the street level, providing an unblocked view to the landscape.
Modernist references and yellow cobogós the façade stand out amidst the trees a loft of 120 square meters designed by architect Ney Lima . In a Brasília neighborhood called Park Way, where neoclassical mansions predominate , the project stands to spend simplicity and personality and reveal a house with references in straight lines from the 60s and the Bauhaus school.
The will of a childless couple was building a home that preserved a typical tree savanna that existed on the ground even before the neighborhood Taquari remedies arise in the Capital of Brazil. Having this first fruits as a starting point , the architect Ney Lima residents met with a two-story house in a U shape Thus the project could benefit the most from the ground and even then highlight the darling of the residents.
This house is located in a residential area site close to the Paranoa Lake in Brasília. Searching the maximum integration for the social areas of the house we decided to put all the program under one big roof. The roof together with the two side walls forms a portico” that shades the interiors and part of the exterior spaces of the house.
The owner of this house, at the South Lake residential district in Brasilia, had grown up on that same street. The window of his bedroom was opened to the view of the Paranoá Lake towards northwest, with the monumental zone of Brasília right at the opposite bank. He had witnessed the evolution of that landscape, and intended to keep living together with it. The house was almost fully elevated on piloti, on the edge of the height allowed by urban regulations, opening the view above the neighbors’ roofs.
