In different terrains and contexts, Brazil have the opportunity to live in the forest: either in the field or in town, interspersed with remnants of native forest. Enjoying the climate and the contact with nature is, for those who design it, a challenge but also a privilege.

The premises for the development of the proposal seek to establish a direct relationship of all the internal environments with the external natural landscape, composed of leafy trees, by implanting the residence in the upper part of the terrain. Hence, the generous openings and balconies conform spaces fruition. The intimate area of the house, which houses 3 bedrooms and a living room, is located on the upper deck.

Fortaleza Maritime Passenger Terminal in Brazil by ARCHITECTUS S/S

Tuesday, February 12th, 2019

Article source: ARCHITECTUS S/S

Architectus faced several challenges when designing a new maritime passenger terminal for Fortaleza: complying with the diverse rules of the sector; operating under a reduced timeline; attending to the needs of the building’s various users; designing a building with flexible use and a striking form; and working in an area of the city with great touristic and scenic potential.

With the aim of providing infrastructure for the 2014 World Cup games that would be held in the city, the Fortaleza Maritime Passenger Terminal was designed from the beginning as a multipurpose space, taking into account both the needs of maritime tourism as well as creating spaces for events, exhibitions, parties and shows. The design also took into account the seasonality of its use as a cruise destination, with demand in the South Atlantic peaking from October to May.

Alimentar Store in Juiz de Fora, Brazil by ATELIÊ DE ARQUITETURA LÍQUIDA

Friday, February 8th, 2019

Article source: ATELIÊ DE ARQUITETURA LÍQUIDA

Located in the city center of Juiz de Fora, Alimentar Store aims to offer to consumers two strands of nutriment products: an enteral nutrition aimed at the hospital branch and natural food products, to the general public.

The architectural project started from the perception of these two distinct markets integrated in the same physical space. In the initial part of the store, designated to the hospital products, the proposal is a real “dip” in white, where exhibitors and light materials were chosen to recreate the medical atmosphere. By crossing this space, the user immerses himself in a non-orthogonal wooden box, which invites him to the warmth and return of our roots, which is natural and lasting essence. Using the naval plywood to create this “box”, we tried to value the materials in the way they are, in fact, reflecting on the user experience.

Espaço Núcleo Pulso Therapy and Dance Space in São Paulo, Brazil by 23 SUL

Sunday, February 3rd, 2019

Article source: 23 SUL

Espaço Núcleo Pulso is a body awareness and therapeutic space in the center of São Paulo. The institution is located on the last floor of a tall building, hosting different sorts of activities. The teacher and psychologist Mariana Camarote – head of Espaço Núcleo Pulso – wanted to implement different spaces for individual personal therapy and group activities, as well as corporal expression dynamics, related to Body Movement in Brazil.

The concept of the refurbishment design was to transform a typical open-space office without subdivisions and modular mineral lining with a low-ceiling challenge, into a space that could host the main hall among the rest of the program: a waiting area, a dressing room which eventually became the gateway to the main hall – a decompression and transition space –, an office for individual therapies, kitchen, two toilets and individual locker rooms.

Article source: brro arquitetos

The beach house of Prumirim is located in the northern coast of the São Paulo state – Brasil, it is laid out among the thick Atlantic woods of the Sao Paulo shoreline, a few meters from the sea. Due to the plentiful woods, the house implementation faces big limitations within the removal of threes. Keeping this in mind, creating engaging social areas became the focal point for the architectural project, that happened through the creation of patios that connect the spaces in the house benefiting from great openings, bringing the green woods inside, like a cabin open to the plant life.

Friday, January 25th, 2019

Article source: Equipe Lamas

This simple and comfortable home, located in a condominium near Lago Sul in Brasilia, is an efficient, low-cost building owned by family of public agents looking for a home that would offer an enhanced connection with nature and a positive family cohesion.

Designed by a local architect Samuel Lamas, the implantation of the house disposes generous distances from the plot boundary and preserves native trees of the cerrado region. The silent architecture in human scale is in harmony with the surroundings and the spaces positioned according to a functional logic guarantee amplitude and connection with the exterior by full-height glazing that faces out onto gardens in every facade.
