Located at one of the oldest neighborhood in Salvador da Bahia, the project for this old abandoned building was presented to the architecture team as a challenge, not only by the historic point of view, but the need to conceive and establish a dialogue between the existing elements and those added to the space. Only 2km away from the Historic Center, the idea was to transform this existing building into a coffee shop.
House D is located in Praia Alegre Beach, Penha city, Santa Catarina State, Brazil.
The order was placed to our office from the desire of the owners to build their beach house. Despite the short house area of 258 sqm, the family needed 7 bedrooms. Among them one should be a suite and one room located on the ground floor. The other 5 rooms and the suite are located on the upper floor. They are served by three cantilevered balconies.
An important collection of African art rests on the wooden sideboard in the living room of Ramp House, located in a quiet garden-neighbourhood in São Paulo. The owners intend to convert the place in a cultural foundation in the future, thus the antique pieces, collected over the last decades, have determined the architectural design approach for the house: the use of the social spaces reveal the African masks in a delicate exhibition experience, in which art blends with everyday objects and domestic life merges with the historical pieces without the feeling of living in a museum.
Located in the Vila Mariana, neighbourhood of São Paulo, the Box St. project is based on the desire of customers to carry out a food trade with containers that allow a new interaction with external space and even a public use of space. With reduced budget and short term, the program and the implantation were a great challenge, as several difficulties were presented for HAA! Studio. Seeking to minimize resources and materials, prefabricated solutions were employed, reconciling the production of the office with the idea that was presented to us.

“To help a child, we must provide them with an environment that allows them to develop freely” – Maria Montessori.
Taking this phrase as a design premise, we needed to serve the client in a specific way, thinking like children. Firstly it would be necessary to choose colors that could suit the children, taking into account the importance of primary colors. However, we did not want to work with saturated colors in the interior, so we adapt furniture, carpentry and coatings with a more neutral palette.
Our client was a small firm wich was bought by an international group – Claranet. Our mission was to mix the “startup” look from the old firm to the more corporate look of the new one.
The result was a real “startup” look using all the identity of a corporate company with all its rules.
It is a 450 sqm office with dofferent kind of meeting rooms – phone booths, high desks and huddle rooms together with “normal” meeting rooms. A great coffee and gaming area.
The idea of renovating the 1917 townhouse and make it Hype Studio’s new headquarters came in the end of 2015. It seemed like the perfect place to put into practice the concepts we believe and pursue in our work.
It was the opportunity to create a work space integrated with the vibrant urban life of Cidade Baixa, a bohemian neighborhood deeply connected with Hype Studio’s history.
The young owners of this apartment in Alto de Pinheiros, São Paulo, wanted an interior design compatible with the life phase they were in: spacious enough to accommodate the daughter and without excesses that would hinder their stripped way of life. It was really necessary to adapt the architecture of the apartment to the style of the neighborhood in which it is situated: a quiet and mostly residential region, permeated by many green areas and abundance of sunlight.
The LD residence is situated in Nova Lima, a mountanious town neighbour to Belo Horizonte, Brasil. The building site has an average 34 degrees transversal inclination and 12 degrees in the longitudinal direction, with 3400 square meters.
By situating the main part of the residence in the longitutinal direction, it was possible to create a more harmonious implantation on the site, thus avoidind giant walls and disproportionate structures, which is quite common in the neighbourhood.

A couple with two grown up sons approached us having a generous site with an almost 360° view and the idea of building a modern and cozy house. The house needed to be a good place to entertain guests and friends and at the same time maintain the panorama created by the garden. Thus, the house was built with fluid spaces, with generous lighting and crossed ventilation, that could be easily integrated or isolated to be used together or independently changing integration and privacy as needed.
