Standing out on top of a hill, the Itatiba House was designed in such a way as to make the most of the existing topography, keeping the building at a high level in order to enjoy the view of the surroundings. The implantation of the house happens in an oblique way in relation to the street, making it skewed on the lot. In addition to guaranteeing the most beautiful views for most of the rooms, we managed to ensure that the project would guarantee a greater distance from the future neighbor with the most important view, and that the openings of most of the rooms of the house would be oriented to the North-South face, optimizing the insolation in the winter and at the same time being more protected from the peak sun in the summer. In order to overcome the slope of more than 7 meters to the bottom of the lot and the difference of 4 meters from one side to the other from the front of the lot, it was decided to create a ramp on the lower side in order to transfer to the car the effort of the ascent, until reaching the garage that is in the back of the house.
Located in a private condominium, the BRJ house stands out for its concrete elements composed of two blind gable walls e prestressed beams, forming a set of porches that characterizes its volume and shelters the heart of the house: the social sector and services. Large aluminum and glass sliding plans seal this concrete core and allow cross ventilation and natural lighting, as well as visually connecting it with the rest of the house.
The lot, in a walled community, has approximately 1,800 sq m and a rectangular shape. It features a large plateau and a slight leaning in its vegetation-free area, bestowed with a native forest at the back, which goes far beyond its limits. The client fancied a house that stretched out into the gardens, where the boundaries between interior and exterior were not defined, having its leisure and living spaces on the same level as the external areas. Thus, the house is organized from the street to the back portion of the lot as a large continuous plan, going through its internal areas without a single step. The lateral parts of the land were excavated to give access to the garage and the secondary areas of the residence. The front facade faces east and the pool facade faces west, what guarantees the residence an adequate solar rotation to fulfill other plastic and functional demands intended by the project.
The flagstone house is set in one of the most picturesque and welcoming places in the interior of Minas, where life remains peaceful among the mountains and valleys of Serra do Espinhaço, Milho Verde.
The architecture of the house uses local materials to fit into the landscape. On the ground, the entire floor is made of stone, with no distinction between inside and outside. A continuity of the flagstone of the waterfalls in the background. The bedrooms, on the other hand, float on a wooden structure.
A place to curl up around the delicacies prepared on the wood stove, and rest your eyes on the horizon.
This kindergarten school designed by the architect Carolina Penna for the Municipality of São Caetano do Sul is open to use by the community. Inserted in the clearing of an important square in the city, it is surrounded by vegetation and equipment for leisure and contemplation, and has environments supported by a circular cover, integrating the spaces. Empowering current pedagogical practices, the voids of the school are as important as the classrooms.
The Muxarabi apartment was designed for CoDA’s youngest client who wanted to give her first apartment a new look. Despite the newly opened building, the resident needed to optimize the space for her routine.
Therefore, the internal division of the project was slightly rearranged. One of the bedrooms was demolished to create a closet for the suite and a bookcase for the living room.
The house located on the coast of the state of Bahia, Brazil, has 831.22m² of built area on a plot of 3,288m². The construction carried out from scratch prioritized the maximum use of space as possible, with a focus on exuberant natural lighting, spaciousness and integration of the rooms, comfort and high quality in all aspects of the project, in addition to exclusivity in its execution.
“Surprise me with a house” was the client’s demand. The family: a father and two grown children. Three music lovers.
His desire was to have a functional house and, at the same time, different from anything seen inside the residential condominium where he would be.
Given the mission, the idea of a striking element emerges, the robust Y-pillar. In keeping with the requirement, the architecture office sought to create an unconventional project: a house without an entrance door, with a swimming pool in front and the landscaping integrated into many of the rooms.
The project is located in a very consolidated urban sector, on a busy street south of the city of Paraná.
Initially, the place was an undeveloped and depopulated area in which a small temple was erected, with a gabled roof and side tower. Then, as the years progressed, the city grew and so did its immediate surroundings. The initial temple became too small for the demand it had to satisfy, and therefore a larger building is built next to it for that purpose. In a third stage, a hall, classrooms and other facilities were built. Faced with such growth, the small initial temple started to house toilets for the whole complex, degrading its symbolism and history.
This apartment is located in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, and has 280m². It was developed for a family with three children, two girls and one boy, of similar ages. The father always dreamed of having an apartment with a special view of the city, and that dream came true with this property that has a beautiful view of Praça Pôr do Sol, very famous in the city. At the same time, it presents the skyline of the Vila Madalena district, which makes the apartment very special, both during the day with the green landscape that provides tranquility and at night with the lights of the neighboring district, which is very busy, which gives the urban air.
The owners’ wishes were always well defined, from the beginning the main request was to prioritize the view. They wanted visually integrated rooms, but at the same time delimited by their use. TV, lounge, dining and terrace with gourmet, four suites, a multipurpose office in the intimate circulation area, kitchen and laundry area.
