N-House in Breda,The Netherlands by Lab32 architecten

The forest at your feet. Opposite the beautiful Boswachterij nature reserve in Dorst, a mere stone’s throw from Breda, a new residential area of the same name is being built. On the north side of the area, on the edge of the forest, are five lots designated for private development.

The key starting points for the design of this villa were the natural setting, the relationship with the forest and a timeless, minimalist design with warm materials and first-rate detailing. In addition, the villa was required to be energy neutral and a home for life.

District Water Board Brabantse Delta in Breda, Netherlands by Kaan Architecten

Tuesday, July 26th, 2016

Article source: Kaan Architecten

Rather than the arrival of a new office building, the realization of the headquarters of the Brabantse Delta water board signifies a new lease of life for the century-old country estate (first mentioned late 14th century), and an important symbol for the landscape at the South of Breda. With its new premises on the Bouvigne estate, the district water board has provided appropriate continuity for a piece of cultural-historical heritage. The scope of the commission was broad, extending the castle, the gardens and the surrounding structures and grounds, including the chapel and the castle gatehouse.

Instituut Verbeeten in Breda, Netherlands by Wiegerinck

A radiotherapy satellite location was developed for Instituut Verbeeten next to the Amphia Hospital in Breda. The new building and its two radiation bunkers cuts traveling time for patients living on the fringes of the catchment area. A healing environment is the main design principle. Patients experience daylight at every step of their treatment. The shell around the building creates various patios in the waiting and treatment rooms. It forms a filter between the outside world and the building, creating a feeling of openness and privacy.

HOUSE OF PERTIJS – WATCHES AND JEWELLERY CONCEPT STORE

‘House of Pertijs’ has its roots in a traditional family-owned watch and jewellery store in the Dutch city of Breda, where clients were treated more like friends than customers. To create more customer flow, the owner of the store came up with a new vision: nowadays luxury is not merely about watches and jewellery, but also about lifestyle and its related high-end products. Why not combine these different product groups in one store? The idea of a watch and jewellery concept store was born.

Huisjeshuis in Breda, Netherlands by studio NL-D

Huisjeshuis as new type catalogue housing

The huisjeshuis is a single family house developed as an alternative for the rather boring and limited but relatively cheap catalogue housing. It exists out of a collection of standard shelters with an insulated hall system as a basis. The chosen hall system works in a very advantageous way if you compare the price per cubic metres to those of a standard house.
