Apartment for P&M in Budapest, Hungary by GASPARBONTA

Thursday, May 24th, 2018

Article source: GASPARBONTA

When I first visited this apartment (a 160 sqm part of a beautiful villa from the 30s), it charmed me instantly. My client, whom I’ve been working with for quite some time now felt it too, it had a certain fairy taleish magic moving around the walls. It was around that time he told me that he’s going to marry his girlfriend, whom he was living in an apartment I designed him earlier. This all made perfect sense in my head, a new part of life for the young couple and a new part of life for the old building. They all needed the same thing: a fresh start, a new canvas.

Skanska HQ in Budapest, Hungary by LAB5 architects

Tuesday, December 12th, 2017

Article source: LAB5 architects

Skanska cares with high priority for the working environments of its team.

Due to the company’s philosophy, every colleague has the same access to the working surfaces, which literally means, every morning everyone can select any working station, up to what’s the most convenient to his/her expected tasks of the day. Skanska implemented the activity based model, enhancing communication, creativity and co-working within the company. Helping the teamwork, everyone is sitting in the same space, but the way the furnishing and the layout are solved, there is no disturbingly over-sight of the total office area.

3 Stories in Budapest, Hungary by GASPARBONTA

Thursday, April 20th, 2017

Article source: GASPARBONTA

‘I highly doubt, that this apartment can be turned into a decent home’ – said a close relative of the owner, seconds after we first saw this place. I hardly agreed. I loved it. Luckily, the owner – a great innovator, a friend and a fellow dino enthusiast – and I were on the same page about the outcome. This was one of the most complicated structures, I have ever seen, covered by numerous layers of human history and unwanted building materials. We had to take the long road and uncover this beauty and turn it to a contemporary home.

Don Pepe I Menyecske Utca in Budapest, Hungary by GASPARBONTA

Thursday, April 6th, 2017

Article source: GASPARBONTA

10 years ago, I was at my third year at college. The girlfriend I had at the time, lived at Őrmező, so I had to take the bus no. 139 and get off in front of Don Pepe Menyecske to get to her.

There are very few better-known restaurant chains in Hungary nowadays like Don Pepe. The continued existence in the last 25 years made the brand well-known for the whole society. When I realized the actual gravity of the task to change a brand so recognized and widespread in any ways, I got scared. I got scared because our generation keeps building new brands, shape them to our liking, fine-tune it to our habits. Meanwhile, we have a large number of existing users here, regulars, so the goal was to reinvent the current concept and replace it with a contemporary, forward-looking approach.

Sarepta Lutheran Church Social Institution for Disabled People in Budapest, Hungary by MODUM Architects Ltd.

Friday, December 9th, 2016

Article source: MODUM Architects Ltd.

Protestant harmony

In 2012, the Hungarian Lutheran Church invited a number of selected architecture firms to take part in the competition for the modernisation and extension of the Sarepta Evangelical Institution for the disabled, along with designing its new residential building. The professional jury has chosen the proposal of the winner of the Ybl Award, András Krizsán (DLA). After the permission of plans – as the result of a lucky turn of events – the Church was able to purchase an extra plot for the new building on Máriaremetei Road, not far from the original location of the Institution. This has created the possibility of building two buildings with the division of latter site.

House expansion in Zugló, Hungary by batlab architects

Tuesday, November 8th, 2016

Article source: batlab architects

We first met our customers (Anikó and Bálint) in the summer of 2013 who wanted to expand their home due to their growing family. Our task was to build a whole new storey  and a ground floor terrace after removing the hip roof. The family has outlined their requirements for the rooms, however we were given a free hand in the design and appearance.

There was enough time for planning, the customers spent a lot of time mulling over their new home, and we have also redesigned the house multiple times. While one week we thought that something is a good solution, the other week we thought the opposite.

Liget Budapest Museum in Hungary by JMA

Tuesday, August 16th, 2016

Article source: JMA

In response to the Hungarian government’s noble mission to erect new buildings for six important cultural institutions that are to be located within the City Park in Budapest, this design concept focuses on the museums of architecture and photography. The concept encompasses all aspects of the design program so as to present the jury, and the Hungarian people, with architectural works of art in both structure and landscape, that distinguish both the Hungarian culture and the whole of Europe in a world-renown manner. The concept intends to present works of art housing works of art harmoniously, providing an intriguing dynamic that will draw all visitors to its environs in a manner that simultaneously embraces interaction, enriches cultural pride, and satisfies a desire for an experiential aesthetic that will be immeasurably fulfilling and long-lasting.
