It has minimal, clean, soft and organically waived surfaces for relaxing and joyful experience what resting at home should be. In the same time the very practical and functional layout will support the young couple with two kids in their everyday routine.
The Dundee Residence landscape transforms a simple pool deck and poorly maintained hillside landscape into an exuberant space for living and entertaining, and ultimately a dynamic play space for a mother (and Hollywood stylist) and her young children. The house was built speculatively in the 1990’s and designed to mimic the steep architectural pedigrees of its international style neighbors. Dundee sits perched high in the hills with sweeping views of Downtown Los Angeles to the South and the chaparral hills of Griffith Park to the east. Located in hills above the Los Feliz, the neighborhood is home to actors, rockstars and Hollywood elite and to some of LA’s most significant architecture, including Frank Llloyd Wright’s Ennis-Brown House and Richard Neutra’s Lovell Health House.
New construction of Modern design architecture in the heart of Brentwood features 5 Bedroom and 5.5 baths with open floor plan design is good for entertaining and family living. This year’s awards, honoring the best architecture, spaces, and products from across the globe, received thousands of entries from more than 95 countries.
The Windhover Contemplative Center, designed by Aidlin Darling Design, is a spiritual retreat on the Stanford campus to promote and inspire personal renewal. Using Nathan Oliveira’s meditative Windhover paintings as a vehicle, the center provides a refuge from the intensity of daily life. It is intended for quiet reflection throughout the day for any Stanford student, faculty, or staff member, as well as for members of the larger community.
Hupomone Ranch is an original 160-acre homestead located in the Chileno Valley, just three miles west of downtown Petaluma. The ranch had been fallow for over 30 years and the owners, a young family with three children, wanted to build a barn house that would reflect their commitment to sustainable farming, draw on the natural serenity of the site and build on the sense of place in western Petaluma where farming and ranching are still a part of people’s daily lives.
The owners came to Klopf Architecture with a clear vision: Create a brighter home with clean lines and visual surprises – but that enhances the Eichler vernacular – that blurs the boundaries between inside and outside and supports “modern living”.
Brecon Estate Winery was bestowed a Merit Design Award for Architecture at the 2016 San Francisco AIA Design Awards. The winery, remodeled by Aidlin Darling Design, is located on the “Emerald Necklace” of Paso Robles’ progressive wine growing region. The jury noted that the real strength of the project is in its simplicity and its restraint; “The crisp detailing and carefully composed materials make this just a stunning project through and through.”
Built in 1992 by the husband-and-wife architecture team of Cigolle X Coleman, the house originally served as an experimental project of industrial materials consisting mostly of glass, steel, and concrete. A young family purchased the home and hired Rios Clementi Hale Studios to give their new residence a complete renovation to make the house warm and comfortable, and conducive to entertaining. Rios Clementi Hale Studios worked in the capacity of architect, interior designer, and landscape architect to extensively update the interior and exterior, and refine the home’s organization, while still respecting the “bones” of the original design
The Stanford Central Energy Facility is a transformational campus‐wide energy system – replacing a 100% fossil‐fuel‐based combined heat and power plant with grid‐sourced electricity and first‐of‐its kind heat recovery system. Positioning Stanford as a national leader in energy efficiency and carbon reduction, the results are impressive: greenhouse gas emissions are slashed by 68%; fossil fuel use by 65%; and campus‐wide water use by 15%. This comprehensive Stanford Energy System Innovation (SESI) system will eliminate 150,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, the equivalent of removing 32,000 cars from the road every year. Expected energy savings to Stanford over 35 years is $425 million.
